It's fine as long as you can verify you burn that much. Machines and MFP often overestimate calorie burns.

Depends on your goals, too. If your trying to build strength, cardio will not get you there. If your trying to build endurance, cardio will help a lot. A one hour workout is not too much -- I try to run about 20 min. early in the morning and on gym days I typically spend 45 min. to 90 min. on a workout. When I did Bikram yoga, those classes run 90 min. each and I still ran some days and did other workouts as well.

Is fine. I tend to have at least one light cardio or total rest day per week just to give my body a break. If thats the only exercise you are doing and you are afyer weight loss then id suggest you do a mix of cardio and resistance.

Too much for what? What are you trying to accomplish?

I took it to be too much from a safety aspect and potential overtraining.

Many people do more than 1 hr per day of cardio. I'm not sure I believe you can burn 650 calories with one hour per day of cardio, but I see no harm in your trying.

One hour of Cardio a day is fine, just make sure to also do some weight training and don't eat back your calories.

    Bad advice highlighted!
If OP is burning that amount (entirely possible BTW) then his weight loss would increase by at least 1lb a week over the rate he selected. OP only has a small amount to lose and a big deficit would be inappropriate.

For continuous cardio - the kind where you're sweating and your heart is pumping - I'd believe it. A lot depends on the intensity of the workout and your weight.

If you start weight lifting, you will lose weight while keeping your "size". Now is the time for you to start. Opt for fewer days of cardio and instead switch up to weight lifting on a few of your days (at least 2x per week but I suggest more).

If you aren't doing strength/resistance training, getting enough protein, or are eating at too high of a deficit, then you'll lose muscle. There will probably still be some loss, but those are the keys to maintaining as much as you can.

Cardio won't make you lose muscle but if you want to maximise the amount of muscle you retain add in (or swap into) some weight/resistance training. Small calorie deficit and adequate protein also help.

It would depend on how much the calorie deficit is to say whether or not cardio will burn muscle.

It's incredibly hard to burn muscle as fuel - well beyond the levels of exercise most people ever attain. You would have to be completely glycogen depleted which stops most people in their tracks.

^^ Don't listen to broscience, listen to this guys advice :-) eat back your exercise calories. This is what MFP is for.

depends on what you call cardio as well. Run and bike up hill and have been in a slight deficit for a year and my legs are getting like treetrunks :-)

Your body will do what it will (what you want it to do does'nt count :-) ) I've learned this the hard way. I would go a little slower so you retrain your lean mass. If you lost 4kg in 8 weeks and it was mainly fat this has got to be better than droping 5kg with 1kg of muscle :-) Good luck on getting to where you want to get to though.
