I've always been a bit of an independent loner. Don't believe in gimmicks and gadgets, hypnosis, potions, lotions, etc. I guess I'm also a skeptic. Go it alone! Do it yourself! Boo to support groups! Phooey on nutritionists! I know what foods are good for me and what isn't. Gee, I sound kind of dull and boorish! lol Trust me, I'm not! I dropped nearly 35 pounds during my first 8 months on MFP. It wasn't that hard either! Unfortunately, my occasional "treat" meals became more than occasional and I've gained back 8 pounds. Anyhow......I'm willing to admit that my stubborn independence may be a hindrance in attaining my goal to a healthy weight. Either that or I'm looking for a verbal spanking from strangers for the 1/2 rack of ribs and Oreo McFlurry I just devoured.
At any rate.....hello MFP!

I used to think that cheat days should be a normal part of my diet, but now I don't really see cheat days. I try to work foods into my daily diary. That being said, for ex. I am going to help with a team do some landscaping for my parents. We are ordering in and having drinks on their patio afterwards. I won't know whats going to be on the menu, and I'm guessing there will be donuts in the morning. I have a long way to go yet, and it does make me nervous. I am choosing to see this as not cheat days but regular occurances that will come into our lives. I will go with the flow but try to eat more salads or vegetables and less of the pasta, or pizza, whatever is ordered. This is a lifestyle change for the rest of our lives, we have to learn to adjust, and allow for treats now and than. I too had a mcflurry yesterday, snack size.
Good Luck! Sounds like you are doing great! I am newer at this than you are, and I hope to have the success you have had!0 -
Thanks, etheridgetracy! Landscaping for your parents is not only a lovely gesture but it'll be good exercise as well! Going in with an eating plan is even better! Good on you!!0

I also have been an independant mfp'er, lol, but I do feel sometimes I could use some support. If you'd like to add a friend, you can add me0
