If you want honesty, it's more than likely you were consuming much more than you thought. That's why guesstimating doesn't work usually. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and regroup.

Thanks, but I know I am not pregnant I am thinking of going to the doctor but will weigh myself daily for a week and see what happens0 -
As unpopular as it is here I weighed myself every day for a year. Obviously there are fluctuations but it allowed me to keep track of everything.
And like as others said, don't use cups to measure solids, food scales are where to go.0 -

Log everything. Even sauces. Also, I add 20% calories to my total every day, and minus 20% off exercise calories burned. Do not eat back your exercise calories, but if you are super hungry eat half. You are supposed to feel hungry at first as your stomach shrinks. Definitely see a doctor too, and a qualified nutritionist. You can do it!0

I'd have to agree with everyone else.
That said, after weighing myself this morning, I'm at 156. That's 5.2 pounds heavier than I was two months ago. That said, I know for a fact that I haven't gained fast because I have the measurements and progress pics to prove it. I'd really recommend tracking measurements and taking progress pictures in addition to using the scale, as that on it's own isn't the best way to see progress.0 -
You can get the scales online (Amazon.com has many choices), or at walmart' target, BB&B, etc. they vary greatly in price, but I got really nice ones for 30-something $$$. I think you will be amazed at the revelation of accurate weighing! Best of luck to you.0

You mentioned that you put new batteries in before weighing yourself this time. Could they have been getting weak when you weighed yourself a month ago? Was your loss at the previous weigh in particularly good? Perhaps it was the previous weigh in that was off.0

My guess is that part of the gain, maybe even half, is water weight and the rest is real weight gain because you were eating much more than you thought. This is a tough lesson, but a very real one that shows the importance of weighing, measuring and logging all the time. Even if you go off track, if you log your food you will be able to look back and see what caused your weight gain. There is nothing to do but get eight back on track. My guess is that several of these pounds of water will come off in the next few days and you weight gain will not be as severe as you think it is.0

Muscle has more DENSITY than fat, but muscle and fat weigh the same. Muscle growth is extremely slow and gradual - it's much slower than the potential rate of fat loss.
The old "you're at a plateau or gaining weight because you're actually gaining muscle!" is a misguided effort to be comforting when really the best way to support one another is to help and encourage each other to stay on track with logging, keeping that calorie deficit going, and sharing information that leads to healthier eating patterns.
what most people mean is that if you have a ball of muscle and a ball of fat, same in dimensions, it will weigh the same. mass.
and it has nothing to do with being a comfort, muscle is good and gaining muscle mass will make you gain weight. this is why measurements can be a good addition to tracking weight loss/healthy lifestyle. what we are talking about here is not a day to day measurement.
(but I do think, it's likely that overeating is the situation here)0
