As a guy, I started to really love cooking when my sister got me an electric raclette grill. I made a lot of great meals with that, and it made it even more fun when I had friends over, making it a social as well as delicious. Following that idea I started getting more kitchen gadgets: a crockpot, pizza steel, rice cooker, bread machine, coffee grinder (hehe) and so on. I have always loved gadgets, and if I can make cooking turn into a techie-thing, it quickly became a lot more fun to. Making delicious food is also just as addicting as reaching weight goals or goals you set for your training, which is good motivation to keep on cooking. The only problem is that when you turn into Gordon Ramsay, your wife might not let you out of the kitchen!

If you plan your week's meals as well, and shop for the entire week, cooking is just about following the schedule you've set as well. Check out some Youtube-channels and food blogs for inspiration, just don't find too much inspiration in Epic Meal Time!

It might sound like boring plain old advice, but for me I like quick healthy foods I can make in under 15 minutes. So lately, I will chop and prep my veggies and lettuce for salad fixings all at once and have them in separate containers in the fridge. It makes putting a salad together take a minute. I also like things like broccoli or cauliflower that I can steam quickly, spinach and bok choy I can sautee quickly, frozen fish and chicken I can put in the fridge overnight, and then cook at dinner time. Sometimes I buy the bagged ready to cook veggies and steam them in a glass container in the microwave. I usually make extra, and then put my leftovers in containers that are meal portions (so my cooked chicken and veggies is then put into 3 meals worth that I can grab and go or heat and eat). There is a bit of prep time at the beginning, but I get 3 or 4 days of quick eating with minimal cleanup. For my fruit, I will also will wash a bunch, cut, and put it into tupperware containers or plastic baggies. Then I have a few days worth that I can grab a bag from the fridge. I also do this with cereal, crackers, chips, nuts, and snack food. When I am hungry or on the go I can literally grab a bag and go.

I am not sure if you or your wife does the meal prep and such, or how old the little ones are, but you both might find this is helpful especially with the kids as far as snacks go. Talk with your wife, tell her your goals, and please keep your motivation. To be blessed with a family is wonderful, and you want to be healthy to enjoy a long and happy life with them :)

Thank you Kellycasey5, this is the road I'm going to go down, my problem is that I get a bit lazy after a couple of weeks but not this time, going to try prepping my food similar to how you have explained above and make it as fun as possible, probably get the kids involved too so I keep it going, thanks for your advice
