Dairy and Acne

I've been acne-prone most of my life. It's fairly well controlled now with a good cleansing regimen. However I do notice that when I increase dairy in my diet, I break out. A doctor told me a while ago that dairy is difficult for some bodies to break down, so strange things may happen. I've limited myself to one Greek yogurt a week - disappointing because I love the stuff. I've tried soy yogurt...just, no. I've heard Silk has some non-dairy alternative out but I can't find it yet. Anyone else have this issue and/or know of another dairy alternative? I've tried the Lactase enzyme but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

You could probably ask the manager at the grocery store to order the Silk yogurt for you.0

I just looked up the Silk yogurt...it's soy. <sigh>0

There is no proven correlation between dairy consumption and acne. "Strange things may happen" is not clinical or even helpful. The lactase enzyme is for people who can't digest lactose and have digestive symptoms (bloating, diarrhea, constipation, rolling bowels). Lactose intolerance has nothing to do with acne.
Have you considered that it could be psychosomatic? Or it could be correlative. Days that you're eating more dairy, maybe you're also not cleansing as well, or you have more stress, or you eat fewer vegetables, or you crave dairy right before you have hormonal changes causing your acne.

I like both of these as well. Especially the coconut milk one by So Delicious.0 -
I've never heard of either almond or coconut milk yogurt, so I'll have to search for those. Thanks for letting me know!0

You might also want to check your soap, shampoo etc. I cleared right up after I moved out of my parents house and their coconut scented stuff! Sure enough if I go back I break out, but eating it just makes my throat itch.0

My acne disappeared about 2 weeks into eating Paleo and never returned.0

I have this same problem with dairy and I've compared the Silk yogurts and the So Delicious ones. I've found that the Silk soy yogurt tastes more like actual yogurt, is less sweet, etc. The So Delicious coconut milk yogurt is sweeter and does have a pretty strong coconut taste, so if you're a fan it's great. Personally, i prefer it. I eat it with raspberries, the tartness balances out great with the sweetness of the yogurt0
