I'm sure there are others out there that love to watch movies as much as I do and figured we could have a place to review and recommend some that we enjoyed and even some that people should stay away from.  I would say No Spoilers please.

I have seen a boat load of the newer movies recently but off the top of my head these are 3 of my favorites out of the bunch.

FoxCatcher - Carrell played this role so well in my opinion.  I had watched a couple videos on John Du Pont and the resemblance was uncanny.  Some parts in the movie were so creepy it made me cringe.  Just an awesome movie.

St. Vincent - Bill Murray.  No explosions or thriller scenes in this one but instead just a good story of how totally different people can have a big impact on each other's lives.  I loved it.

Big Hero 6 - Yes, I watch all the cartoons and this one was great.  I laughed out load many times.  I was surprised it was a Disney movie.  Looks like they finally decided to step their game up.

I am a fan of this thread. I really want to see Big Hero 6. I will have to come back and make some suggestions when I have time to sit down and type. :)

Here are a few that we have enjoyed lately:

Kingsmen: fun action movie with a few surprises. Somewhat like a modern day James Bond.

St. Vincent: totally enjoyed it...ditto on OP

Still too traumatized from when my kids were young to see any Disney or other animation!

I just got Lucy out of Redbox the other night.

In general I really enjoyed it but the ending got really strange. I could have done without the last 10 minutes (I find myself saying that about a lot of movies lately...) but the beginning was intelligent and I enjoy movies where people totally kick *kitten*. I just think it got way too derailed from reality there at the end. Nothing against sci-fi because I love it, I just think they went a little too far off.

Angriest Man in Brooklyn - Netflix had this in the Comedy section but overall I found it pretty depressing. Maybe it was because I was uneducated about the movie and actually expected a comedy but instead got a dark drama.

BASEketball - This movie isn't new by any means but it stars the co-creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker so I watched it simply for that fact. I enjoyed it although it has a pretty big dose of cheesiness for sure. Although I would say the cheesiness is balanced with the clever, witty humor that you'd expect from Matt and Trey, so totally worth sitting through the cheesiness for the good jokes.

Guardians of the Galaxy - I'm in no way a super hero buff but my friend brought this over. I really enjoyed it. I think it was a great mix of humor and action but I'm sure I missed a ton of other super hero references. I know people who are immersed in that genre had really great things to say about it.

Grand Budapest Hotel - if you like quirky comedic independent movies with great actors (i.e. Ralph Fiennes) done by Wes Anderson of Royal Tennenbaum and Moonrise Kingdom. Well done and entertaining.

It's weird to see a good review for Lucy because before today I haven't met 1 person that didn't tell me it was terrible.

I didn't care for Lucy. I love Scarlett Johanssen though.

If anyone likes the Divergent series, you would like Insurgent. I rather enjoyed the movie.

Focus was ok, but slightly disappointing. I was expecting a better ending to be honest.

I loved Into the Woods, but it's not for everyone. I'm a musical geek.

That's one I'm going to be watching soon. Looks funny.

    This weekend I watched

Top 5 - It was funny for sure. A whole slew of great comedians in it. It was kind of sad to see Tracy Morgan in it being hilarious as usual and know there's a chance he won't ever get back to that.

Whiplash - J.K. Simmons was really intense in it. I know he won the Oscar best supporting actor for this movie but the entire time I was watching it I kept thinking "How is he the supporting actor when he is the star of this film?". He was incredible in it, the movie was good but not great.

Exodus - My opinion on this movie should not matter to anyone really because while it wasn't a bad movie it kind of pissed me off in terms of how much they changed from the scripture. That opinion is not open for debate because religion is not something I will air out like that.
I loved Exodus, but I agree that some liberties were taken that surprised me.
