Have ruined everything

I was doing so well losing weight loss. I got down from a size 14 to a 12 in a month but over the past two weeks I've been binging a lot and I feel awful. I've binged on chocolate, crisps, bread and biscuits. I've still been exercising a lot. My binging has been a lot t do with depression. I feel I'm losing my battle as no amount of therapy helps and my medication doesn't help either and nobody takes my depression seriously. I feel so alone. I brought new clothes recently and they're probably too tight now. How long will it take to work off the weight? I stepped on the scale and have gained nearly six pounds, probably more now I've binged this evening. I feel so low and chubby. I feel like I'll never get to where I want to be. I've struggled with my weight for so many years. Can two weeks or twelve days of binging really undo everything?

You can't think about 'undoing' everything. All you can do is keep going. Just get back on track and keep on keeping on. You can't exercise away a bad diet, so don't think that the exercise is going to fix it, you've got to get a handle on the eating. If therapy and medication aren't helping, and you don't feel that you are being taken seriously, perhaps it's time for a different therapist? Getting your depression under control is very important, as you obviously have a link between that and eating, so work on that first. Then continue your logging and calorie deficit.0

Don't let a blip in your overall plan stop you, or make you think you've failed - mistakes and blips are normal parts of every success story, so accept that yeah you've binged and slowed your progress, but you can now get back on it and continue in your progress to where you want to be0

You'll be fine. Just jump back in and keep going. I'll be honest. I recently went through a rough patch. I lost my job, have bills piling, and I have a young daughter to support on my own. I've been in a panic and very down. That black cloud feeling has been over my head...I hate that feeling. For about a week, I gave up completely (I struggle with depression and anxiety as well). Ended up eating how much of whatever I wanted. I started not caring again, and it was a scary thing and something I thought I had gotten completely under control. I was so disappointed with myself as I have lost 90 pounds so far and didn't want to start on the road to gain it all back. Well, about a week ago I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself. I got back to eating at a deficit, and after I shed a ton of water weight, I ended up losing a pound. I don't know how it happened, but it did. I am now at my lowest weight so far on this journey. My point is that I derailed for about a week, but it didn't derail my progress. Even if it would have, I would have just pushed forward. What's the alternative really? Now I don't plan on doing that a lot because eventually my luck would run out and the weight would come back on, but it's nice to know that going through a rough patch didn't set me back. You can pull through this. That six pounds is most likely water weight. I shed 7 or 8 pounds of water weight after my week of binging. Just keep moving forward. If you stumble get back up and start again.

You need to find that sexy pants thread and learn how to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way. Nothing is going to work until you learn HOW to lose weight the right way.0

The first step is to shake off the guilt of the moment. You are were you are. You can't get to a new place from where you were. You have to start from where you are. I'm sorry you are going through depression. I've been there. Don't use it as an excuse to let go of the responsibility of your actions. You know that binging isn't going to make you feel better. Depression doesn't make you do it. Stress exercising isn't going to make you feel better. You don't have to answer to anyone but yourself. You have to determine why you are depressed. You have to determine what path you need to take to get out of that depression. I will tell you that getting out of bed, getting dressed for the day, setting goals and meeting them do a lot to build your self confidence.
Step 1... stop punishing yourself
Step 2... up to you0 -

Set backs can happen even for those that do it a healthy way. I've been doing this since August of last year. I am one that practices moderation. I eat what I want in smaller portions. I am a big advocate for that. I have learned to balance eating what I love and fitting into a sustainable plan that helped me lose 90 pounds. But depression and anxiety is a whole other beast. You can be eating in a healthy sustainable way, but if you don't get the emotional roller coaster under control as well, it won't matter. That's the most important task to master for some of us.

Here's the thread: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1
And some advice from somebody who also suffers with depression, it can be difficult to be sustainable with weight loss. I have been here for 3 years trying to lose weight and being successful pretty off and on. There have been years where I've lost 35 lbs, and some when I've lost 3. For instance, I lost my mom last August. Before that time, I lost 17 lbs and gained back every single pound when it happened. This year, I had to pick myself up and start again. It sucks, especially when you don't have anybody who believes you.
But, I have noticed that exercise helps me a lot. It helps my mood stay stable and it helps me feel like it's easier to stay on track. My biggest suggestion is to take short breaks if you feel like you need to and allow yourself to recover if something bad happens and to always, ALWAYS get back on track if you want to keep making progress
Best of luck to you!

Also, I read your profile and noticed that you have lost weight before but it was not sustainable for you. While I do not know your individual circumstances, the sexy pants thread might be very helpful for you to get on track to sustainable weight loss.0
