Filet Mignon Tacos

i know this is likely not the right place to post this, but....
I put two very expensive, thick filet Mignon steaks with salt and pepper on them in my crock pot and turned on high after lunch. Don't add water. After a few hours I added half a finely chopped onion with mushroom gravy mix (powder) stirred in a small cup
Of water. We had steak tacos with cilantro, radishes, red onion, and marinated cabbage with oil and vinegar, salsa, sour cream, and my recipe found online called don't tell mama red beans and rice. What! This is the best meal I've ever prepared.

Wut?
Why would you use an expensive and lean cut, only to overcook it?
Whatever floats your boat, but you could have had an even better tasting steak taco had you either cook the cut you had properly or gotten a cut more suitable for tacos0 -

This confuses me as well.0 -
It sounds delicious, but expensive filet mignon, only to stew it? What a waste!!!0

Hello ladies. It was a first for me as well. Surprisingly it was one of the best meals I've ever made....and I'm a cook. The steak was fork tender and made a ton. We are it again tonight. Only this time served with jasmine rice and red beans and sausage, cabbage salad Latina style. What! It was amazing. Best gravy ever on that rice too0

This makes me sad0

Be happy. Filet Mignon great!0

But you can get the same fork tender result with a lower quality cut of meat slow cooked or pressure cooked! Doing it with filet is like taking fine rare silk and making booties for your dog.0
-
not sure I could do this to beef tenderloin and also sleep at night...0

Let's all stop and recognize a moment of silence for those poor filets that found their demise in a crock pot meant for their cheaper friends from the butcher shop.0

The horror!!0

The wonder! Steaks, salt and pepper....No WATER. Just cooks in own juice. Falls apart. Add onion after a few hours and mushroom gravy mix then w a little water. Really great!0
