You won't die because you have missed your protein goals. If I were in your shoes I'd probably have enough whey protein to get me to 170 and leave it at that. I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying most people bodies only really need 1lb per lb of lbm and unless you are on gear that most likely won't be more than 170-180, so 170g of protein will be sufficient.

If your goal is weightloss, hitting a particular protein target isn't as important as being under your calorie intake target. If you were trying to build muscle, that's a different scenario, but building muscle and weightloss are not easy to do at the same time.

    i rarely (maybe never) do.

but then, I'm really only concerned about my calorie intake and not the macros, though out of curiosity i look at the reports from time to time.

200 grams is still a LOT of protein. 130 is fine :)

My dietician recommended a simple way to remember, and easy to calculate. Just eat 1 gram of protein per inch of your height. I'm 71 inches, therefore I eat 71 grams :)

Perhaps overly simplistic compared to many formulas I've seen, but I was (out of medical necessity) on a high protein diet and this is what they recommended.

    Good Luck

I am pretty sure that's supposed to be 1 gram per pound of lean body mass. I could wrong, though.

if you don't know lean mass it's 0.8 grams per lb of body weight...

but just protein won't maintain muscle while losing...you have to do resistance training too.

Easiest way is to use a cloth tape measure and find an online calculator and enter the measurements. That's the way that I do mine and I was within .5% of mine when I used an impedance device. Or you can get one for about $30 on Amazon....http://www.amazon.com/Omron-Monitor-model-HBF-306C-Black/dp/B000FYZMYK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433187343&sr=8-1&keywords=body+fat
