edited November 2024 in Introduce Yourself
Hi everyone!
I have been a member of MyFitnesspal for a long while but until now have never taken it seriously. Now it's time!! I have managed to put on 3 stone in the last 3 years and at now 14 stone and a size 18 I am miserable. I have to get a grip and do something. I start 'diets' and healthy eating and often fall off the wagon and this time I have to remain committed and am hoping that you lovely peeps out there will be able to help me :-)
I turn 40 at the end of November and I have over 50lbs to lose between now and then. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Xx

I know exactly how you feel and to demonstrate, I have paid for a personal trainer, which is expensive and I can ill afford but desperate measure. Well, he is brilliant but I have taken advantage of this month while he is on holiday to actually address my weight. I have had 2 sessions a week since Christmas and not lost a pound because I overeat! I am now strong and possibly under the fat, toned? I have started feeling embarrassed about not losing any weight now, so yesterday was my new beginning and I weigh 13st 6lbs, need to drop 42lbs, so it is a long haul.
You are asking to lose 10lb a month so a tall order, but so am I. I have tried so often and failed so often but this time, I am going to give it my all. I am fed up thinking I look terrible, etc etc, and I am the only one who allows that because I am the only one who puts rubbish in my mouth. I am not an expert on using the site but if you can look at my diary, you are welcome. Stay in touch and we can help each other. You will be fabulous at 40 - one day at a time or if it is a tough day, one hour at a time! I try to remember with every day (alright I know this is only day 2..lol) by thinking this is the last time I will ever be this heavy! It helps. I drink a few mouthfuls of water every time I crave sweet stuff etc, it helps. I also wear a rubber band on my wrist and ping it when the craving strikes. Does it help, only time will tell but I hope so.
Good luck, you can do this, small steps make long journeys happen or womething like that..lol x

The important thing is to be honest and log everything and you will lose weight over time. Remember it's calorie deficit so you are still allowed treats and alcohol.
    Good luck
