pasta

I have a big pasta dinner to go to on Friday for my nephews birthday party. I've been keeping at 1200 calories per day and I know pasta has a ton of calories. There aren't any other options for dinner, just pasta and meatballs and bread. I need help! What can I do? Can I accumulate my
Leftover calories from the week and use them that day? Does it work like that? (I'm thinking no but I have to ask because I'm desperate!!)
Thanks

That...or simply eat only a small portion. Fill up with salad or veggies or some side dish they might provide that would have less calories.

You can absolutely save calories for the weekend. A lot of us save up our exercise calories for the weekends, or leave 100 calories at the end of each day and use all of those banked calories for the weekend. Or you could just do some extra workouts that day and eat lightly for the first part of the day and enjoy your pasta that evening.

I would just try to eat a sensible portion of pasta, skip the bread, and eat an extra meatball or two. You'll be fine. One pasta dinner is not going to derail your progress.

Yes to using leftover calories. B)
I would probably skip the bread, have a tiny amount of pasta (because I am not fond of pasta), and enjoy the meatballs.

I love meatballs AND pasta! Lol. Pasta is my weakness.
Ok so that's good to know that I can use my leftover calories from the week! Thanks so much!
I'll also do an extra workout that morning and eat lightly. There aren't any other side dishes besides salad so I'll have to make sure to start with that so I'm not so hungry by the time I get to the pasta.
    Thanks everyone!!

Eat really sparingly throughout the rest of the day, and use the main portion of your calories for dinner.

eat a reasonable portion of pasta, not all the pasta.

As you'll see from my diary I've had linguine and meatballs two teas in a row! (Leftovers). Going out for food can be harder with portion control. So you could save up calories - extra exercise, small breakfast and dinner that day or you could go for a smaller portion and not fill up on bread, have a coffee instead of pudding. There are different ways of playing the game.

Do you know the name of the restaurant? Chances are, you'll be able to find the menu and then look up the nutritional content ahead of time. I like to do this and when I can't find that exact restaurant's nutrition data, I look up another comparable restaurant.

I think it's possible to eat at a pasta place without overdoing it. Stay away from the bread and oil, creamy sauces, dressings on the salad, sweets, and buttery stuff.

    +1

I really don't think pasta calories are so high--at least not based on the pasta alone, as opposed to some particular high cal restaurant options with higher calorie sauces or tons of cheese.

What I do think is that many people have distorted views of what a serving of pasta ought to be.
