hey MFP experts, how does the calories earned number get calculated? Some days, I'll have 10,000 plus steps and get 500 calories but today i have 5600 steps and over 2000 calories. I have a Fitbit charge HR. does the greater amount of information from the heart rate function improve the accuracy of the calories earned/burned numbers? Any info about this would be much appreciated!!

I have an iPhone 6
At times my calories burned number is doubled.
It is obvious the huge jump
14373 steps is 691 calories
Earlier today when it was only 10,000 or so I showed over 900 calories burned for a little while.
I think it just doubles sometimes and then goes back to right.
But now I just eat back about half the calories. I don't believe the steps calories thing. It feels like a guideline to me

Yes, HR matters. So does pace. You could amble along wandering around the mall for 5000 steps and you would not burn as many calories as if you were marching to the USMC cadence album.0
