I find myself being way too low on protein and don't like using fake meat as they tend to be high in calories and not so good for you. Are there any tips on incorporating more vegetarian protein into my diet? Any general nutrition tips for vegetarians would be greatly appreciated as well.

Choose carbs that have protein in them as well, for example Beans. Protein powder in smoothies.

    Other options:

    Peanut butter
    Nuts
Protein Powder added to sauces or cereal
Milk - Soy or regular add or drink it
    Cheese
    Tofu
Eggs - if you eat them, can be added to many things or eaten alone

Those are the things I can think of off the top of my head. Most won't add too many calories if you portion propely

Whey protein shake, greek yogurt, egg whites. Before these, my protein was too low. Even showed up low on annual blood work. Now I get 30% of my calories from protein by incorporating those three daily.

Every one else has given good advice. Cottage cheese is also a good protein choice.

Bread has more than you might think. Not a ton like some suggust foods, but it's still really underrated. Don't listen to mfp's suggestion for protein though. The cdc says most people need 40-60grams per day.

Garbanzo beans, kidney beans, firm tofu and green peas have good amt of protein in them. Also I use soy protein isolate to up my protein intake. I am a vegetarian too. Whole wheat flour also has good protein content. What I learnt is to mix grains and legumes/ beans at each meal to optimize protein intake.

Pinterest helped me through a year of being vegetarian. And having vegetarian vegan friends here to see what they were eating. Good luck!
