going over daily calorie allowance.

Hello.
Just wanted to ask......If you go over your daily calorie allowance by 200-300 calories but burn off those extra calories through excercise, is this ok? Or am I supposed to stick to my daily calorie allowance and not go over at all?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, Im new to this

    The net is the same as long as you're sure that your burn numbers aren't overstated.

    That's how it's supposed to work, you're meant to eat back your exercise calories. That's why it gives you extra calories to eat when you enter your exercise.

    If you are going to start entering your exercise though and eating back calories given by MFP it's often advised to eat 50-80% back as MFP tends to overestimate a lot.

    MFP is designed for you to eat your exercise calories back. Just make sure you are accurately tracking your food, which generally requires weighing portions, logging everything you eat, logging all exercise, and ensuring that you have accurate calories for calories in/calories out.

    I typed into mfp the type of excercise, how long and how much effort was put into the excersise and it gave me the amount of calories that I would've burnt off.

    I'd probably use half the calories stated to be on the safe side, at least until you see your results over time.

    If you use MFP estimates for exercise, count only about 50-75% of those calories because they are generally overestimated. I use a heart rate monitor for exercise, which works best for me.

    Also, with food: make sure you do your own research to ensure you are getting accurate calorie counts. Use grams as much as possible when weighing food, and stay away from generic food entries (1/2 cup, small, large, medium, etc). Many of the entries in the database are inaccurate, so you're going to have to do your own research if you want accuracy. For example, salmon is about 58 calorie per ounce (28 grams), but there are some entries that have it at 20 or 40 calories per ounce. That inaccuracy can kill a calorie deficit pretty quickly.
