Diet(fat loss) & exercise (muscle gain)

There is no way to specifically target a body part/area for fat loss.

If your looking to lower body fat %, and end up in the same weight range, your going to want to incorporate both strength training ( weights ) and cardio into your exercise routine. This will allow you to burn more calories, helping with fat loss, as well as increase lean muscle mass, which will increase BMR.

I do.lots of cardio, running, walking, football etc. I'm 27. 12.4 and have an athletic body. Trying to trim my belly area without losing much weight. Being watching what I eat and am.only consuming 1800-2000 cals daily but eating really well. But really don't want to lose too.much weight so.I'm unsure what to do

Read the thread about recomp in this forum.

But realise that fat comes off from everywhere, problem areas tend to be where you are genetically programmed to store fat and can be the stubborn part that you gain first and lose last.
Body changes do happen with cardio but it's weight training that makes the big difference to body composition - if you aren't doing any then start.

As others have mentioned, unfortunately there is no such thing as spot training to lose fat.

You can spot train to increase definition and build muscle but in order to lose fat you have to watch what you eat & how much of it and increase strength training. Cardio alone won't be enough.

    Best of luck to you!

Re: recomp (recomposition); if you do a search there are several articles on recomp (including one by MFP). Since I have lost the weight I wanted to--believe or not, by increasing my calories, watching how much sugar I ate, strength training, and limited cardio (15 - 20 min max). I plan on starting a recomp plan (which means heavier weights and keeping the cardio pretty much where it's at).
