Hello!

I'm embarking on my first try at P90x very very soon. I watched some of it last night and I gotta say, it put fear in me. I only watched the 1st dvd.

We received it as a gift or yet, a challenge between my hub and myself as a team vs my sister and her hub.

I consider myself to be active. I go through phases where I'm not as active though and I haven't been as active as I was recently. But I do jog at least 3 times a week for about 25 minutes and also do a bit of dumbbells. This is my "not so active" phase. I also play soccer on Sundays on a women's recreational team. :D Sometimes ride my bike, walk my doggie, etc.

About a month and a half ago I did a bootcamp for 6 weeks. I went at least 3 times a week and it was pretty hardcore.

So that's my recent history.

But I'm afraid of P90x. It was just scary and fast and hard and manly. lol I will be doing it early morning with the hub so at least I won't be my myself but I am scared I'll end up quitting. I didn't even want to post it and make it official because I'm scared of quitting. Anybody else scared or was scared before starting it?

*gulp*

it's really not that bad- It's to the point though as far as lifting- the whole point is to stick with it

I think once you do a couple of days your fears will be gone!

I ordered Insanity and I scared of that! I know once I do the fitness test and the first couple of days I will be fine. I just need to stick with it and not quit!

    Good Luck with your challenge!

I put off doing it for so long because I was afraid it was too hard. I'm now in the middle of my fifth round since February 2010. I couldn't even do one pushup from my toes when I started so you don't have to have the greatest fitness base for success.

Don't let the first week determine your success. You'll be sore and tired and not want to workout but it gets better over time. Trust the program and follow the workouts and remember that nutrition is more than half your results. Please, please ,please do the classic version. No need to fear getting bulky, as a woman, adding appreciable muscle on a calories restricted diet no matter how heavy youlift is near impossible.

Since your husband is doing it with you that should help keep you both motivated.

Don't be scared! Just Bring It!

I think a little fear is a good thing....it keeps you on your toes with a challenge....I'm doing Insanity right now and it's hard....P90X incorporates weights....just make sure you don't use too heavy....and I hope you and your husband beat the other team....

I was 60 pounds overweight when I started 12 weeks ago and was in horrible shape. I am on week 13 and am 15 pounds down and feel great. my hubby lost 22 pounds. If we can go do it after being a bunch of schlubs on the couch, you can definitely do it! Just use each other to drive your workouts. It's WAY more fun when you're doing it with someone!

You're approaching it in a bad way. Don't say you're going to try it. Just do it. Press play every day and change your life.

Thanks for your responses. I thought somebody would convince me not to do it and try it later lol. Boo! I'm pretty motivated. I guess I'm afraid of quitting because it's 3 months. Also, if I don't see results right away, I get discouraged. But I will remember all this tricks I play on myself and keep pushing past them.

Also, yes I will be doing the classic but I don't have a pull up bar. My hub does but I will use the bands only. Is this ok?

I just started P90x Lean with my hubby yesterday. I was afraid of it too but hubs was excited as he more athletic and likes to push himself. SO far it's not as hard as we thought, but that could be because we haven't gotten to the hard part yet. Like you guys, he's doing the pull up bar while I do the bands. I used to get discouraged when I didn't see results right away as well, but since being on MFP and actually learning as I go, I've learned not give up and when I hit a plateau, to pay more attention to what i'm doing or can change and to keep going. It's still frustrating, but it's okay. Good luck!!

Don't be scared!! I'm in week 9! I've started it before and never finished. I really like the classic version the best. The other times I started I was doing Lean and ended up quitting. This time around I'm going strong & never looking back! You can do it! Bring it!!

No need to be scared of the program. Tony Horton talks you through everything and shows you how to modify if you need to modify.
