HELP. I know I am not over weight but I have the weird rib rolls and tummy flub, my ribs poke out a little so I don't need to lose weight just to tighten up. I need to know what I'm supposed to be doing, some articles say I have to work my legs too in order to do it and some say that crunches and sit ups do almost nothing, what do you know that works? thank you!

Hello there!
Have you ever considered buying a workout dvd?
Jillian Michaels has an amazing variety, I have about 4 of them, the most popular would be 30 Day Shred, it works I promise! For lower area but a little harder is Killer Buns & Thighs, etc etc
Google reviews and results, I promise it has done so much more me! And only takes 30 minutes of your time a day0 -
Eurgh I sounded like a fitness dvd sales rep0

What do you like doing? If you want to get in shape, it is pointless to just say I will do X or Y for a few weeks, because what happens when that period is over? You will not build muscle and then maintain it unless you keep being active. So start by thinking what sounds interesting and what you can see yourself doing. When you limit your options a bit, it is easier to figure out a plan.0

If you want to see exactly which muscles are being worked on during exercises and how exactly they move during each exercise, check this guy out from www.muscleandmotion.com, wicked goooood:

To determine what kind of workouts you want/should do, you need to figure out a few things first -
- What your fitness needs are
- Any medical requirements
- What you enjoy doing
Each one of those items are important.
The first will open up the range of which types of workouts you should be doing. Since there is no way to specifically "spot reduce," just about any type of workout will burn off whatever fat you have wherever you have it.
That brings us to the second point, which will limit what you can do. Myself, I suffer from seizures, migraines, and a debilitating headache (along with a couple of issues tied to those). This means I can't do pilates, yoga, heavy cardio, anything that requires me to bend forward or backward or jump around. So I'm severely limited in what I can do. (I can, however, swim. I just don't have access to a pool...yet. )
And the third item is just as important as the other two. If you're not enjoying your workout, you're going to become discouraged with it very quickly. So it may take some time to find what's "right" for you. Experiment, try different things out. If you go to a gym, see if you can ask a trainer to give you a tour of the machines - they usually do this for free in the hopes that you'll sign on for training.
I know I didn't give you anything specific, but everybody is different. Everyone has different needs, requirements, and preferences. What you need, require and enjoy is going to be different than what I will need, require and enjoy. It will just take a bit of time to find out what those things are.
I hope this helps.
