How to stay focused

i haven't been to the gym in 5 days now and haven't ran in like a week. I can't get out of this funk and I'm finding it so hard to get myself back up and at the gym and eating right again. Needing some advice at the moment. Wish I had a motivation buddy.

When I get in that funk I put on my gym clothes. I tell myself that's all I have to do. Once I'm dressed I drive to the gym. I tell myself just 5 minutes on the bike. Anyone can do that. And then I do my workout because after five minutes my mind is in a better place. Baby steps.0

I stay focused by doing what I like and not forcing myself to do things I don't.0

Think of those people whose disabilities never stop them from getting fit and staying fit. I don't feel well for 4 days now but I do exercise still moderately. Could hardly wait to feel better and do my 10,000 steps and zumba.
You'll do better.0 -

If you can't make yourself go to the gym, could you get up and walk around the block? Walk in place? Turn on some music and dance for 10 minutes?

What's your goal? Are you trying to lose or maintain weight? I personally am trying to lose the ten pounds I've gained and am feeling in the same boat as you. Just lost my motivation! I just started to get too comfortable. So now, what's helped is looking at photos of myself when I felt my best. Some of my pants I can't fit into anymore! So that's motivation. I also decided that once I lose these ten pounds I'll buy myself a new pair of pants. I also signed myself up for another half marathon, so I HAVE to train.0

Change it up. Try new running programs. There's a zombie running app that is always great about getting me back into the routine of running, it's fun, it tells you to pick up your speed, it talks at you do you aren't just listening to music. I also run with an audio or podcast. It really helps the time pass when my brain can drift into a story instead of the way I count the beats in music vs my running cadence.0

I have ADHD and can't sit still for long or I drive myself and all the others living in my head nuts so for me it's just a matter of having to burn the extra energy or else! But as for you maybe read what your friends are posting on MFP for their activities and maybe you'll get a little kick start from that. Or try getting a gym buddy and make plans with them so that you are obligated to show (which can be half the battle), once there they can also give you motivation.
On the rare occasions when I need a little pick me up I'll watch a clip of a scene from Rocky or some other motivational movie or put on some jams that pump me up.
Ok I've sat for to long see you later.
Good luck.

Ok have just broken his, although tbh i was recovering from a minor injury. You dont say what you are doing or how long youve been doing it. ukk go with the idea that you arent far into your journey an youve realised that the gym bit cna be a bit boring/ hard work and you dont enjoy it.
I have the following observations.
1. Weight loss needs to start with controlling your deficit by what you consume and is less influenced by exercise.
2. Starting off with enthusiasm, not resting and then burning out is a classic beginners mistake. Find soemthing you enjoy and can manage, it doesnt have to be the gym, it should just involve movement. If your routine bores you then find soemthing else.
3. You need to have rest days so make sure you were having them.
4. getting back at it just means you need to phase your restart, so go for a shorter time, lift less weight, exercise at a slaower pace or for less time. increase difficulty, uration or intensity the following day.
At the moment you just need not to panic, recommit and review why you wnat to lose and why.
Take it one day at a time. You will get your mojo back.0 -

I'm trying to lose weight! Yeah I lost about 10-15 pound in jan/ feb but have put it all back on. My phone broke so I actually lost all my pictures to look back on, but I actually took some pictures to show myself what I need to work more on and give me motivation to change and get in the gym and then hopefully get back into shape and the rhythm. Thank you! And good luck to you on your journey and half marathon! You'll do great0
