Can't find motivation

Okay so I'll get motivated and want to workout but then a few minutes later I just want to lay in bed and never workout. I feel like I ruin my whole day worth of trying to be healthy bc I'll eat something unhealthy and it just makes me want to "try again tomorrow" but it never happens. I want to lose weight so that I can feel good about myself and feel that I look good and to be confident. I have IBS also and I've read where leading a healthy life style would help with that. I have plenty of reasons to lose the weight and workout but when ever the time comes to workout or choose healthy foods over fattening foods I never do it. I think that well one day I'll lose the weight but I've been wanting to for a while now but still can't seem to get the proper motivation. Any ideas on how to stay motivated everyday and what is your motivation?

My family is my motivation. I hate seeing my hubby and daughter go on bike rides and I can't because I'm so uncomfortable. Or they run around the park and I can't run at all.
I am also doing it for myself. I'm adopted so I don't know know my medical history. The only one who can help me is ME!!!
Think of who is important to you and do it do you can spend the rest of your life spending time with them.0 -
Why do you want to lose weight? What benefits will you gain from it? Write down a list of reasons so you can review them later to help give yourself motivation.
Really, though, it isn't about motivation. It is about self-discipline and doing things you don't want to do because you know they will benefit you. And it is about building habits so you do things without thinking about it. I brush my teeth every day, not because I want to but because it is a habit. I go to work each day whether I want to or not because it provides me the benefit of being able to pay my bills (and it is a habit).0 -
It may not just be lack of motivation, it could also be poor nutrition causing a lack of energy. Could you be dealing with unresolved depression? It may be time to see a doctor and have your vitamin levels looked at.
Sometimes lack of motivation isn't just feeling, it can be physical or mental as well. Sometimes even poor sleep habits affect the rest of your life.0 -
@katkins3 What you said makes sense, I have been sorta down the past couple months and I do feel like I have no energy0

Sounds similar to me and I never thought to view it more like Tried30User said. I will have to work on self-discipline myself. As for katkins3, I agree there too. I have been eating poorly and unfortunately for me the sleep issues are happening now do to my age. I think they may have both hit the nail on the head. I don't suffer depression but know people who do and it effects their drive to do things as well. Good luck.0

Start with a small change and do it until it's a habit, then make another small change. The mental and physical shock of changing everything at once can be tiring and overwhelming. Try switching out one staple food for a healthier alternative and just do that for a while. Then add a 15 minute walk every day. Etc. Do each change until it feels natural.
It may be less taxing for you to your mind and body to change gradually than to suddenly start eating clean with 1000 less calories per day while adding P90X or whatever. Plus, are you going to be able to sustain that for life? The all or nothing approach works for some people and not for others. I find I prefer a more gradual ramp up - then again, I'm getting older and I have no need to look good in a bikini tomorrow, so I can afford to be patient. ;-)0
