Heey everyone, my name is Charlene and I'm here to share my previous weight loss success story as well as my current weight loss goal with my second child: Dominic. Born May 12 2015 - I weighed 208lbs before delivery. Holy crap you say? Yeah I had it rough during my second. However with my first born, Marcus, I gained a reasonable 50lbs and loved my pregnancy! I was active, biking and walking because I wasn't as nauseous as I was with Dominic, so exercise didn't stop and I ate well. Also with my first it was closer to spring and summer time, that motivated me to go out. Winter pregnancies are rough and long here in Montreal.

So what happened with my second pregnancy to make me bloom into a well rounded mama? Fatigue and the Winter rut; running after a toddler with morning sickness kicking into high gear for 5 months straight kicked my *kitten*. I slept a lot once Marcus was at daycare and ate junk because it was the only thing that made the sickness stay at bay - but it made me gain weight fast! Another factor: No sleep due to a constant blocked dry nose. Yes my nose was useless. At night I couldn't breath through it so it really made for terrible sleepless nights. It lasted for 8 months: 8 months of dry mouth. It went away the day I gave birth :)

So there you have it. Those are my reasons for putting on 75lbs on my tiny slender frame. I weighed 125lbs before pregnancy and was a health freak - then it flew out the window.

Now, not even being a month after my second child's birth, I weigh 173lbs. The first two weeks while resting, I ate healthy and ate normal sized portions again - I dropped 30lbs. Then on my fourth week starting exactly on June 1st I started my cardio, stretch, light weight regime. No abdominals yet!! You wait it out for a bit ladies or else you'll ruine the healing process of your abdominal walls ( allow them to close up before you do sit ups. )

Cardio for me melts away the fat. So far in 3-4 days I've lost 5lbs. My calorie intake is set at 1200 and I breastfeed my little angel. I also nap for an hour or so but I never miss a workout! That means 6 days a week for 30 - 60 minutes a day. When I plateau I up my calories and build muscle + tone up. My workouts are then 1hr - 2hrs each.

I do it all at home in my basement while baby sleeps. I dont neglect house choires and get everything done before 11am. Supper made and all. Being organized is key to weight loss as a mother: please keep that in mind.

And for gym equipment? One old exercise bike I purchased for 50$, a yoga mat, two sets of ankle weights and that is it. Oh and some sweet beats to listen to :)

Thats all you need ladies and gentlemen. I dropped 50lbs in 6 - 7 months and then some. Now watch me as I lose my 75+ lbs by November 2015. Will you follow my lead?

take care!
Char

p.s To all the preggers out there: dont despair! You can do anything if you believe hard enough. Your body will come back! Work for it you loverly sexy mamas

I feel a lot better now. I have gained 60lb with 3 weeks to go and battling mentally with it. I had the same issue morning sickness for 5+ months. No sickness now but less active. Still walking but any other exercise seems to give me a headache ( dehydration?) I suffer from the same dry mouth feeling and for the last 2 weeks I am suddenly ravenous. I am encouraged by your success. I hear a lot that reducing calories can effect your milk supply. Have you had any issues?

You're doing fab! I had my little girl in October last year and gained about 60lbs, I had sickness for 28 weeks of it and could only keep down carby foods. But I lost about 16lbs just after having her (she was a healthy 8lb 6 lol). And I've lost another 14lbs since I started my health kick a month ago. So hopefully I'll be back to my pre pregnancy weight by August :). Although I'm 5'8 with a wider frame (big hips) so my healthy weight it about 150.

    Good luck to you :D

I swear my metabolism is so different after my sweet boy was born last august. I only gained 28 lbs and he was 8 lbs and some change. I lost it all within three months, went back to work and gained 15 lbs!!

Hello there madame! Ohhh congrats you're almost there! Hang tight :) The last few weeks for me was a mix of: 'well you've done yourself in this far- sure why not, eat all them cookies!' and a mix of 'im just plain hungry' ... it's always so comforting to talk about your symptoms to a real person rather than just trying to relate to an article in a book or online - and more importantly one that went through a similar experience.

As for the breastfeeding question I have to say I honestly don't know. With my first I struggled by the second month and breastfed for 3 1/2 months, I remember lacking milk after 6pm and it stressed me out a lot. I think it had to do with my hydration intake, i wasnt i guess skilled or didnt take it seriously to hydrate myself. As of now my supply is stronger with my second, and trust me when I say this little man can tank! Im drinking a lot of water and always have two bottles full of water next to me when I breastfeed.

I say do what your body feels comfortable with but portion control will help as well as making healthy choices. I have not had a sweet in 5 days straight. So if you omit just that and say eat 1500 - 1800 calories, you are good to go. Not eating sweets is easier than I thought... uhm well maybe due to the fact that i've must have eaten enough sugar while pregnant to last me another 10 years..

Stay in touch if you need any more advice..or if you wanna swap more stories.
