Should I add running distance if it syncs my steps?

From what I've read walking vs running burn close to the same calories. Should I add my run from today or is it covered by the steps that I synced?

I'm not sure if I'm correct in this, but I just go with my steps and don't log my runs separately. I think it would double count if I log the runs and sync my Fitbit.

Activity trackers (like Fitbit) track all step-based activity, so only log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking).

I am not sure what kind of tracker you have but mine is a Jawbone. It has an activity timer on it which I turn on when I start any form of exercise and shut off when it's done.( Jawbone will ask if I was exercising actually if the timer isn't on based on increase movement and suggests logging it as such)

So I turn it on, run/lift/walk/bike etc, shut it off. Edit the activity to the type it was and the intensity and bam it has it logged...it doesn't affect my steps (increase them/decrease them) but it does however keep track of my workouts etc.
