Just weird

Yesterday I ate McDonalds - Filet O Fish, Large Fries and a Medium Dr. Pepper for lunch and 2 slices of deep dish pizza for dinner. For breakfast I had an egg with low fat cheese and some turkey sausages. I also had a half cup of ice cream and a bowl of cereal for snacks. This morning when I stepped on the scale I was a pound lighter. Granted I was packing and moving things yesterday, but with all the salt and calories I expected a gain, not a loss. Can anyone explain this phenomenon.

    How often do you weigh?

Every morning before I step in the shower.

Then you simply weighed less than yesterday. Maybe a good poop, maybe some water loss, who knows? Hell I've gained and lost 5lbs in the course of a day. It's not weird it's just normal fluctuation.

The body works in mysterious ways.

Weight loss isn't linear and often isn't a direct result of what you ate the day before. It's not weird. It's how things are.

Let me rephrase by saying it's "weird" for me. Historically, I would have been a pound or two heavier eating all the fat and sodium. I understand that weight loss is not linear and I have experienced many fluctuations - it's just usually on the gain instead of loss side when it comes to the sodium intake.

    ^^This^^

There are times I'm extremely on point for several days with 'healthier' foods and have very little change on the scale. There's other times I'm a dirty dirty boy (fast food, processed stuff, but all in my calorie range) and I'm down significantly the next day.

Unless I devour a whole pizza or have some other big, bready, salty meal, I can't relate what I eat directly to the scale the next day or two.

also I'm told morning is a less accurate time to weigh in

or maybe it's a less accurate time to try on shoes

    idk something like that

Do you know why it it less accurate. Empty stomach (at least theoretically) and naked, lol.

Yes, I know realize this. Again, historically for me it would have been a gain. I guess I don't expect a different answer, I was just more surprised than anything.

your weight will generally be at its lowest in the morning

just weigh yourself at the same time of day every time, wearing the same clothes. or no clothes

I had that happen once after eating at 5 guys at 9 pm. I felt so bloated when I went to bed and was expecting a gain from water retention but nope, down a pound. Women's body's are wonderful things....lol

I have found that for me it sometimes takes more than 24 hours for weight gain to show on the scale. But fluctuations. I weigh daily, but pay most attention to weekly changes.

Lol, thanks for telling me something relatable. It's like a wonderful crazy sick joke. I was very happy about not gaining after all that crap!

Seeing as how pizza performs miracles, I can see why. :)

That is weird! Maybe you would have had a larger loss had it not been for that food? Or maybe your TOM is kicking in and you're burning more calories, or maybe your weekly average was less, or something? For some reason when I eat potato chips, no matter how many, I lose weight :P Weird stuff!

Now I'm tempted to step on the scale after last night's extravaganza...for science. Think I'll pass though.

I stepped on the scale this morning at 179.6. I did an insanity max30 exercise and incline walked on the treadmill. It got things moving and when I was done, I lost 1.4 pounds. Funny how that works ;)
