I'm currently starting to incorporate HIIT into my rest days and want to ask
what are some HIIT workouts you do?
Either on the stair master, treadmill, elepticals or just workouts?

I replaced my normal cardio day with a HIIT using cardio glide. 3 minute warm up, 30 seconds all out works out to be about 15 mph, them 2.5 minutes at medium pace. I do that cycle 8 times for 24 minutes total, then 3 minutes of cool down
It is only 30 minutes. But I felt it much more than steady state lower intensity cardio for fat burn.
How easy you take the rest intervals is the big factor for me.
It is a sweat dripping off your elbows thing.
I cycle jumping jacks in with squats at times to see how that works but it isn't the same. My HRM does get a bump but the 30 seconds of sprinting gets it going.
Lots of varieties to how people implement intervals.
Good luck
And don't kill yourslef going super hard if you are not used to it.

I use the elliptical, because that's what I have. Although I've heard the recumbent bike is one of the better ones because it has a similar range of motion as the squat, and doesn't fry your Quads and hamstrings like other equipment.0

I run intervals on the treadmill. 4 minute warm up, 3 minute run, 1 minute all out sprint, 1 minute walk, 3 minute run, 1 minute sprint, 1 minute walk, 3 minute run, 1 minute sprint, 2 minute walk, done.
My runs are at 7.0, sprint is 7.5, walk is 3.5 because short stubby legs, you can change to match your fitness level.0 -
HIIT isn't really something you would pick instead of a rest day....?0

I do 4 cycles of 30 secs work/30 secs rest with a jump rope after my strength training (3x week). Then rest the other days.0 -
Treadmill routine that helped get me my marathon PB: 2 miles, 2 min rest, 2k, 1.5 min rest, 1 mile, 1 min rest, 1 k all done at your 5k pace. Basically break neck speed and chest exploding routine! Really difficult but really good. I do it once a week0
