A weekend of food temptation ahead - advice please :)

So I know it's only Tuesday, however I am trying to mentally prepare myself for this weekend! I don't know if anyone can relate but I feel as if I work my booty off during the week only to slip up on the weekends...Not major slip ups but I get bummed out...
So I'm seeing my friend from college:
The up side to this weekend-1. Seeing a friend I haven't seen in a while! 2. Running a 5k! 3. Job interview on Friday!
My apprehensions - 1. I'm not in control of the meals. 2. Temptation will be everywhere 3. I've told her several times, (she's a wonderful person) but doesn't understand why I say no to things, why I choose not to drink and choose healthier choices...I think because she's never been overweight??
Anywho, any suggestions to conquer temptation? How to politely tell friends (when I've said yes to everything in the past) no? How to eat healthy when you are out of town? I've worked so hard to get where I'm at, and this would be a perfect weekend to truly define my healthy lifestyle to my friend, you know?
Thanks in advance!

one plate, small portions, lots of water - chew gum!! Brush your teeth when you've had enough!0

and if they pressure you to eat more, tell them you're having stomach issues. They'll leave you alone.0

Drink lots of water especially right before meals. Eat slowly. Make healthy choices - frilled over fried, veggies, fruit, and eat only what you are comfortable eating. Try adding extra exercise when possible. If you value the freindship, try explaining to her again that you are trying to get healthy and to pleast not judge you if you make choices that she doesn't understand. You're probably right about non-overweight people not having a frame of reference, particularlyif they've never had to watch what they eat.0

I am also having the same issue!!! My husband and I are going to Chicago for memorial day weekend and it's food and drink temptation city!!!!!!!! I am trying to decide now what i am willing to let slip and what i Am not. Plus i plan to try and work out while I am there (we will see how that goes). Anyways I guess try and think about how far you have come...you dont' want to give that up for one weekend!!!0

I experience the same thing a lot. I'm always on a diet, my friends will give me crap about not drinking or not eating. I think they've gotten used to it. I usually explain that I'm trying to eat healthier instead of dieting. It sounds better, I think. Also, I would keep snacks that are healthy, in your purse. (Like an apple or whole grain crackers or something). That way, if you do feel hungry you can eat that instead of stopping somewhere and getting something unhealthy.
When you are out of town and constantly eating at restaurants, I would stick with salads with grilled chicken, and ask for the dressing on the side.0 -
Be honest with your friend up front. Tell her how important your goals are to you and would like her help to stay on track. Ask that she not put you in the position to make a costly decision. Remember your quote by Kenneth Bianchard. You have made a commitment. Stick to it. And agreed: lots of gum and LOTS of water! And even though you are visiting with a friend, try to get a workout in, even if it's just a walk. You friend join you in your fitness activity. Hopefully you'll inspire her! But however your weekend goes, there's always Monday to start fresh. Have fun!!0

Oh, good one
No want REALLY wants anyone to elaborate on "some nasty GI issues" eh?0 -
Well I'm glad there are other people out there that can relate to me! Great ideas too! I don't want to blow this weekend so I'm going to try my best at making the healthier choices and not give in just because I'm being pressured.

My advise, and what's worked for me so far, is to try and eat really slow. If you're just finishing your first plate while everyone else is finishing their second, chances are you'll be left alone. Eating slowly like that gives me time to think about the food I'm eating. Thinking about every bite, how good it is, and ultimately that God gave us food so we can survive, not gorge. Also, keep in mind the verse that you have as your signature. You CAN do all thing through Christ who gives you strength!!0
