Type One Diabetic

I've used the app for years on and off, but a year ago I was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of 16, but I love exercise and being active, so I thought I wouldn't let the diagnosis get me down. However, it did. For just over a year. I gained about 12 pounds within the first month of my diagnosis, purely due to the fact that I was matching my food to my insulin amount, when it should've been the other way around. Anyway, here I am kicking it into high gear again, with virtually no more low blood sugars (yay for no extra eating!) but i still have the pesky 12 pounds on me. I really hope I'm not the only type one out there with this problem, I just want my fit body back! I'm going to continue to try and update my journal as much as I can each day, given I am a high school student and work part-time, so my schedule is busy, but no excuses this time around. It's time to get back on the fitness train.

Good luck and sometimes it's hard to stay on track especially being young...my son is Type 1 and I'm a R.N., and it's a daily challenge for him to keep his blood sugar within normal range. Sounds like you have your sights set on a great obtainable goal!0
