The ONLY way to lose weight is by a calorie defict. Here is a great post, the OP is extremely knowledgeable and will answer your questions. This post was a sticky -http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p10

Do you have pictures of said arms?
You're not building a lot of muscle in 8 weeks, especially since you're losing weight.
My guess is that you're losing the fat off your arms, which is a great thing!

You can't build muscle in a calorie deficit and it doesn't happen in 8 weeks either.
The only thing you can do is continue to lose weight, you can't spot reduce.0 -

Lose the 50 more pounds. Then re-assess.0 -
You're not going to build noticeable muscle with workout DVDs and especially not while losing weight.0

Yup. That’s not muscle. It might be some water retention that makes you look bigger, but that’s about it. I’ve been lifting heavy for months, in a deficit to lose weight, and my arms have been getting progressively smaller, as the layer of fat on top of the muscles is getting smaller.
I recommend you make sure you’re eating in a deficit, and keep doing some resistance training to help hold on to muscle mass.0
