Fiber and protein. There is this vegetarian chili I love. It has under 400 calories and 22 grams of fiber. Also you should try to eat as many veggies as possible. They fill you up with very few calories.

Agree with the poster above. Make sure you balance out your protein, carbs, and fat in a meal. I've found it especially helpful to start my day with a high protein breakfast that is low in carbs. Try having something like 2 eggs and one slice of toast or a banana for breakfast instead of just porridge. Make sure none of the food you're eating has added sugar in it either. Sugar makes your appetite skyrocket and carbs that don't have any fiber also spike blood sugar making you hungrier faster. You can experiment yourself try having just two eggs and a piece of cheese in the morning and the next morning have sugary cereal and I bet you'll find you get hungrier way faster with cereal.

Boiled eggs, turkey chili, steamed veggies, chicken. . . high fiber, high protein. Yes, I also eat pasta and rice and bread, but they make me hungry, so I keep those portions small and combine them with other foods.

This is a canned chili. Vegetarian by Hormel. Another food I eat is Refried beans with onions jalapeños cheese and salsa. Very filling and full of fiber and protein.

I believe in adding good fat to your meals, and half your carbs.

Fat and protein for me! Along with non starchy, low calorie dense vegies for volume.... But they don't "last" long

I feel like too much pasta, rice, salad or even cream of wheat (porridge?) will just run through you. Gives you a false sense of being full as it bloats you up and then shrinks back down in a half hour.

I remember countless times eating myself full of pasta, feeling sickly full and then be hungry again 2 hours later. Ahh the good ol days...

Also, perhaps the idea is not to feel full longer, but eating health side snacks. Or a small bowl of cereal if you get the munchies! On that note, Water! 90% of the time you feel hungry but filling your stomach up with water will hold you over until dinner time.

On a side note, the mothers advice I was given is coming in handy for this forum lol

Fat, protein and fiber keep me full longer. Carbs eaten without much of these make me feel hungry before I should be hungry.
