I have lost over 70 pounds doing low carb and am now with 5 pounds of my goal weight. For the past week, I have switched to counting calories using MFP's daily suggested calorie allowance and have gained 6 pounds in 4 days!!!! What? I have stayed around 1200-1600 calories a day. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

If you've upped your carbs, yes you will gain weight. Carbs will draw water into your muscles. It's good weight. Watch your body measurements. I would try really hard to stay more consistent with hitting your specific calorie goal. As you continue to add in carbs, add them in slowly over time.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it! I have no desire to live as low carb as I have been the past six months. I also have always kept my calories under control. I just need more variety :)

when you low carb, you deplete your glycogen stores (essentially water)...when you re-introduce carbs, you fill those glycogen stores...glycogen has mass and thus weight which shows up on the scale. there's more to body weight than just fat.

Makes sense! Also, I noticed in your profile the NM logo! I'm from Hobbs, but live in TX now. What part of NM do you live in?
