Hi everyone,
I have been trying to lose weight for awhile now and I just can't seem to do it. I just keep gaining it. I'm 113 lbs. and 4'11" I know that's not a lot of weight and I'm okay if I chose to maintain it. The only problem is that on me, since I'm so short I feel that it looks like a lot of weight! Do you have any tips? Does being short effect how I should try to lose the weight?
-also I run. I can usually run up to about ten miles per day in the summer-fall and in the winter and spring I am not as active but I will work out a few times a week.
- I only want to lose about 10lbs

I think..to lose what I call a small amount, like 10 pounds is hard to do. I would also think that being only 4'11" tall, your calories would have to be pretty low. I am 5'4' and MFP set mine at 1200. My sister who is taller than me is allowed more. But I think losing it would be the same process for all. ( keeping calories at a deficit ). Running 10 miles a day is a lot. Hope people will add some suggestions here that will help you.

I am 2" taller than you and weigh between 100-105 lb from a starting weight of 130 lb.
I find to lose I have to set mfp to 1200 cal a day and eat back 50% of my calories expended through exercise. This gives me a .5 lb loss per week.
Because you are small ( both height and weight), you will probably have to do a bit of trial and error calculating your exercise calorie burn. ( ie. 60min aqua fit = 180 cal, 60min Zumba =250 cal,for me).
It may take a little longer to lose the weight, because it is 10lb, but it is doable.
If you mainly run, try adding some resistance training in a couple of times a week, either body or weights, it will help with muscle retention while losing. I never count the calorie deficit for it though some people do.
    Cheers, h.

Oops, I forgot to add, be very diligent weighing, measuring, and logging all you eat and drink, and try not to go under 1200.
    Cheers, h.

I would normally agree but I think telling someone who runs 10 miles a day to move more is a little silly......

@annabanna226 It sounds like you're going to have to be really disciplined about the diet. Calorie calculators are best for average people so use them as a guide but fiddle if you're not getting results. Be patient. And weigh everything really accurately - digital scale in grams for everything except liquids, liquids in ml, no cups/tsp etc.

Your profile says you want to lose 22 lbs.

Are you using MyFitnessPal to log all your food and exercise?

Ok thank you for the advice! I'll make sure I watch what I eat more closely. Yeah I do run a lot, but it's weird I don't get slimmer. I just keep getting bulkier.

I'm your height and ~your weight, but 2x your age.
Since we're so short, we don't get to eat a lot: our little bodies are too efficient.

    So what works for me:
    - cycling/banking calories: eat less on 2 days, so I can eat more on the other 5 days and feel more satiated.
    - 'lift heavy things and put them down again', like rabbitjb said.

I am okay w/ weighing 114, if it means my arms are nicely sculpted or my booty is high and firm. So I mainly lift heavy, with some fun cardio (Zumba, biking with friends).

It took me a long time to learn about weight training. I used to do aerobics classes all the time without seeing any difference. I wish someone had told me about heavy lifting way back when.
Because I have a lot of muscle, my TDEE of 1650 is actually a whole lot higher than the calculated TDEE 1430. That's all because of lifting heavy.

    Good luck,
    Amanda

    Sorry I didn't mean 22lbs. I meant 10. I'll see if I can change it
