I just don't get it, I burn about 400 calories per day, and still I'm stalled, I didn't know if I needed to adjust my calories up and see if that made a difference or not.

Maybe we're misunderstanding your question. You shouldn't be adjusting your calories UP. You would adjust them down as you lose weight.

I know since I'm stalled some people will say "oh you need to eat more" I do have a food scale that I weigh in grams, I try not to eat my calories back and I almost stay under my 1460 calories per day. I do use measuring cups for liquids, I don't know, maybe it's because my son was in the hospital for a week and I couldn't exercise or properly log. I've been at it a week again and I guess I am expecting too much of a difference already. I did try to log right while he was in the hospital, but again, it was hard to try to do it.

how long has the stall been? Under 4 weeks? if so don't sweat it...seriously.

I miss understood I thought you were meaning for exercise...the feed would not let me delete my post so I have changed it. As a previous poster said I let mfp figure things out.

I have lost 28 pounds though, I don't run as much as I did, but I do walk, I would think that it would make some kind of a difference.

Nope MFP is set to your goals without exercise...the exercise just gives you more calories to eat.

Yeah, it's probably been about 2ish weeks or so, maybe 3 weeks. I guess I'm hoping it would move at least an ounce.

I'm sorry your son was in the hospital! I hope he is ok. It may just be that you ate just slightly more and moved just slightly less, being out of your normal routine. No, definitely don't start eating more. UNLESS you think that your deficit is becoming too hard to maintain, and you are tempted to derail often. In that case, you could lower your goal to .5 lb (or to 1 lb if your goal is more than that). Then you have a smaller deficit and therefore get to eat more, which might be an easier goal to accomplish each week.

I've been stalled forever. But reading this really helped!! I've been eating back my exercise calories. I'm at 1330, or 1.5 a week; I just changed to this two days ago. I was at 1200 for a 35 days and lost one pound over 38 days. I have 60 pounds to loose. I generally burn 600 (regularly) to 1,000 (recently-added swimming) kcals a day. What does TDEE stand for? MFP says that I should have lost ~17 pound by now, but I haven't. Any ideas why I'm stuck?

this last time I went 6 weeks...new exercise and not being careful enough on the weekends...those two things together nailed me...tightened my logging and eating up for 1 week and bam down 2 lbs...

oh and stress raises cortisol levels which guess what...makes us retain water which makes it appear we aren't losing...

here is a couple of articles...some find one a bit offensive but the message is clear

Thanks, he's doing good, he's 16 and had to have a metal bar put in his chest to push out his chest cavity, he was severely deformed and it really showed up as he shot up in his height, he's now 6'1 and not done growing yet. So it was a rough week but all is well with him! Appreciate your asking! :)

I let it recalculate each time I enter a new weight.
