So I recently bought a new pair of running shoes and they're Nike+ Ready, but I'm wondering if anyone has used Nike + and what the reviews are for it. Any opinions would be much appreciated

The Nike + is relatively accurate; on par with most mid range pedometers. I've compared the distances that Nike + reports with my car odometer and there may be differences (+ or -) of 1/10 or a mile or less. Not bad for $30. The real wins (for me anyway) are the voice prompts telling you how many miles/calories/minutes you've completed and how many left to go for a give goal, the tracking at the Nike + web site and other features. The Nike + site also has some canned workout plans that you can use. I do wish the plans loaded onto the iPod. Bottom line, it's not perfect but it is a good pedometer with some nice features if you're an iPod user already and it's relatively inexpensive as a training tool. If you are going to use an iPhone you might want to check out some of the tools at the App Store that integrate with other training sites like http://www.mapmyrun.com/. I use the Nike + tool and have been using it training for a 1/2 and then full marathon and like the tool. If you don't have or don't use an iPod there are some alternatives on the Nike + site. You also don't have to have the Nike + shoes if you find you prefer another brand in the future; a key pocket in the laces of your shoes works fine. For $30 it's certainly one of the better tools I've found. Hope that helps.

 I just posted about this yesterday. I don't like nike shoes so I use the pouch that goes on the shoe laces. I tested it in several locations by actually walking it and found it to be very accurate, my usual 4 mile walk clocked in at exactly 4 miles.

It was easy to calibrate and calibrations are set for both walking and running so you don't have to set for just one pace and hope for the best.

I am a total distance tracker and was quite frustrated with pedometers and I wasn't sure 30 bucks was worth it to me but I am very pleased with this little gadget! Still getting used to the website but seems like there is a lot of training info and challenges etc on there.

Keep in mind, the tool was designed for the nano but can be used with other ipods. For more info on that you'd have to go to the apple or nike sites.

So overall, I am a happy runner with this little tool and the website!
  • I heart my Nike +. I don't know why I bothered tracking any other way before it. It makes everything so much easier and I also like that it is small. I have small hands and even smaller wrists. Most fitness watches are too bulky and I can wear them. The Nike+ is small and sporty.
  • I love it, and it used to make running so much more fun. I am a total tech nerd, so any kind of gadget will get me motivated.

So wait.. it can be used with other ipods not just the nano??? I was thinking of just getting the sportband because I have a regular Ipod and didnt think it would work with it, this is really good news because I'd love to have it in sync with my ipod and actually be able to here my distance, cals burned, time, etc hhmmm this is looking more and more like something I want to invest in
