Maintaining Fitness While Sick

Does anyone have pointers for maintaining fitness while sick? I know, not supposed to strain myself, but I'm not planning on that. I'd just like to know if I can work out to maintain muscle mass and avoid gaining more fat while I'm sick.
I was diagnosed with bronchitis and am taking it easy, did extra yoga yesterday to relax, stretch and frankly idk if I could stop the yoga. I've been doing it nearly every day for the past three years and every day for the past several months. I wasn't noticing anything wrong w me until I was practicing yoga one morning, noticed an odd wheezing in my lung. But when I tried to re-create it through breathing, nothing happened (I get a deeper breath while doing some yoga moves).
Anyway, a week later the wheezing is more noticeable and so I go in. I'm still feeling fine, I just know that that odd sensation while breathing isn't a good sign and needs professionals. I'd kept up working out until three days prior, it was my day off and then I got lazy for a couple more days due to poor sleep (baby & a heat wave kept me up). I hadn't even started feeling sick other than the aforementioned until I started taking the meds yesterday, which was simply a side effect of the meds.

if you have a fever, the good rule is 48 hours to go back to working out. Honestly, a nice good steam room visit will help0

You won't lose muscle mass or fitness from a few days or even a week of rest. You may feel less strong and have less stamina when you get back into it, but that will be more because you're still recovering, and not because you lost anything.
You also won't gain any fat if you're in a deficit or eating around maintenance.0 -
The best thing you can do is rest and let yourself heal. Especially with bronchitis, it's best not to do a lot of cardio or anything that's going to have you gasping for breath, as that can just aggravate the condition and slow healing.
Just get plenty of rest, focus on nutrition, take good care of yourself, and keep at the yoga if it's not making you feel sick.0 -
Raven: Nope, no fever at all.
Future: Good to know, thank you!
Peachy: also good to know.
Thank you all!0
