Pre and Post Workout Meals

I have started working out @ 6am before work and struggle as to what to eat before and after my workouts. I have been drinking a MR shake before but what should I eat after? Protien, Carb? Thoughts?

    I actually don't eat anything before my workouts. You want something with protein after your workout.

    Some ideas:

    Protein Shake w/ fruit
    Oatmeal w/ banana and peanut butter
    Egg whites w/ veggies and reduced fat cheese (on whole grain sandwich thin or english muffin if you need it on the go)
    Oatmeal pancake (1/2 cup oatmeal, 2-3 egg whites, pinch of baking soda, pinch of salt, cinnamon and vanilla to taste - mix together and cook like a pancake --- top with microwaved frozen mixed berries)

    I usually eat Greek yogurt with ground flaxseed and mixed fruits before my workouts so that I'll have energy, especially in the morning. Afterwards, I'll take a whey protein shake with almond milk mixed in with frozen bananas. You should take in protein + carbs within 30 mins after you workout.

    Thanks for the suggestions... i know i HAVE to have something before i work out in the morning because i feel nauseated during my work out!!
