It's a long and hard race. But I know I can do it. Logging meals and working out. Some days though, I lack the modivation. I am 6' 4", and 150lbs, going no where. Would anyone like to buddy up?

Stop using Somatotypes, they're pseudoscience. You are the result of your actions. If you eat at a calorie surplus, you will gain weight, if you eat at a calorie deficit you will lose weight, period. First Law of Thermodynamics

not all people build muscle exactly the same way, neither do we all metabolize and process food the same way. heck, muscle fibers vary based up how many of which variety you happen to have genetically. no to mention past history of lean weight vs underweight vs overweight........i could go on...not all people are the same

I didn't say all people were the same, I merely said that all people do not fit neatly into 3 somatotypes, and that people only ever use somatotypes as an excuse for why they are how they are, and why things are "harder for them than for you" and that's not productive.

ok, well we can agree upon that. i expect that i have to lift really heavy and eat a lot to put on less muscle than others may be able to and im ok with that, i acutally enjoy putting in the work. and i agree there are no 3 magical types, i guess its just nice to have other people around that are genetically and physically similar to you and have more similar requirements than others may and its commonly understood that "ectomorph" tends to mean a person who's body naturally lends itself towards being more "willowy" and "skinny" than some others

Yeah, nice to meat you. I'm using that term to allow people to use as a base knowledge on how to approch the topic. Like saying "White male, trying to tan" when we are all 'humans'. By all means, don't use the terms if you want you! But this is my post, and I was l

(Phone freaked) I was looking for some cool advice to start working from and maybe a person or two to help me stay motivated. Not someone to tell me the difference between gray, and grey.

    @AJ_G is correct.

Usage of somatypes to explain your figure is based on fallacious pseudoscience.

    Quite simply:

-Super thin people have a tendency to eat a lot less and move a lot more than others.
-Super fat people have a tendency to eat a lot more and move a lot less than others.

While it may seem like an impossible struggle to gain or lose, it is entirely much easier than you think it is.

You ARE the result of your actions and your understanding (or lack thereof) when it comes to fitness & nutrition.

Whether it's your thread or not, on the main boards there are lots and lots of people who read them and dispelling misinformation on MFP is one of the best things about the forums. Whether you want to accept it or not, that's your option, but giving out the correct information only helps those that read threads like these.
There are no such things as SOMATOTYPES. It's pseudoscience. The whole theory wasn't created by a physiologist, but a psychologist based on the behavior of people.

If you're looking for info on why you're not gaining weight, it's just because of one reason................you're not eating a big enough surplus for yourself.

"Ectomorphs" typically don't eat much and move a lot.
"Endomorphs" typically eat more than they should and don't move as much.

People who identify as ectomorphs will struggle to gain lean mass because they aren't eating enough to support muscle growth. It's good to recognize that because it is something you can fix by focusing on increasing intake.

Women will always have it tougher than men to put on muscle because of hormones. But stick to the basics with compounds lifts and higher volume workouts.
