Onederland and almost half way to goal

Today, I was under 200 lbs for the first time in years. As an "over 50" professional, post-menopausal woman who spends most of her day at a desk, this has been amazing progress. I started March 1, but had pretty low expectations because I THOUGHT I had dieted before, unsuccessfully, and just didn't think I could lose weight at this point in my life. The accountability of logging calories in, calories burned, and weight has made a huge difference in both motivation and success. When I feel like I need some extra motivation or inspiration, I log on and read through success stories. I've lost 47.9 pounds, and haven't had to starve myself or exercise like a fiend...just watching where I am for the day and making food choices based on how many calories I have left, and making sure I get my 10,000 steps in each day seems to be doing the job. I wish I had known about this years ago because this has been the most enjoyable, least stressful "diet" I've ever been on! Because I have enjoyed reading about other people's progress, I promised myself when I hit this "dual milestone," I would post it, as both a thank you to the community for being so positive and encouraging to everyone, and to let others "oldsters" starting out know that it isn't impossible, and is actually pretty easy and fun as long as you give it an honest try. No pics, but a lot of gratitude. I tell everyone about what a great app and community this is, and how helpful I've found my fitbit, my kitchen scale, and my brutally honest digital scale in keeping me honest and accountable. The hardest part so far has just been keeping enough clothes on hand to look presentable at work. I spend a lot of time in the courtroom so I can't just tighten my belt and get by past a certain point. Although, it is a lot easier to find acceptable things on sale once you get out of the "plus size" section, and the trade-off in energy and confidence is worth having to buy new clothes every few weeks.

Fabulous! You could treat your weight loss wardrobe like a pregnancy wardrobe. :) Buy just three pairs of pants and just five shirts...and get shirts every two sizes. No one will notice that you don't have so much because you'll be changing it out fast enough. ;) Dresses are also more often more forgiving of weight changes.

Loved that you shared your progress! I too am an 'olderster' who hasn't seen onederland in over a decade and am not loving this menopausal period in my life. I have been looking for success stories that I can relate to and here you are!!! Keep up the fantastic work and I will start walking now because of your post and maybe get a fitbit to keep me accountable to my 10,000 steps. Please do post again camblin - I'll be cheering your progress!! ...and so happy for toi being able to shop out of the plus sizes! I can't wait for that milestone!

Congratulations! Hard work and dedication pays off. I have confidence that you'll reach foal without a problem. And the clothes thing is frustrating since you work in a professional atmosphere, but once you hit goal you can sell all of those clothes! ;)

Thanks, guys. SparkyTinman, I don't believe in suffering, so I bought some good walking shoes, a nice treadmill, a big TV, and noise-cancelling headphones, and I hop on the treadmill to watch my favorite shows with a fan blowing in my face. I barely notice that I am exercising. While that seemed like an extravagant investment at first, I realized that I was only going to exercise if it wasn't unpleasant, and figured it was probably less than my co-pay would be if I had a heart attack or stroke because I was so out of shape. My body doesn't seem to notice that my mind doesn't consider this exercise.
