Hi...I've had a change in lifestyle recently.... Haven't exercised or eaten well in 3 years..... Now..I lost and gained now I can't seem to lose....averaging 1400 cal.per day according to app.

do you use a scale to weigh ALL your food... so no cups and serving sizes...i lose weight just fine by weighing everything...just like many others.0

Logging in every single day
Weighing and logging every single food

Just another option to look into for yourself. Look at ketogenic/lchf diet, it is working for me after many years of yoyo dieting and I finally don't feel desperate for food all day. I am no expert but I believe you might have to be patient to see results as you have damaged your digestive system over the years of dieting. Please note again that I am not a professional only a follower but the more you read the more you believe in my own experience. You can also change the settings to follow this kind of diet on myfitnesspal. Sorry for long post but I do believe you should research for yourself and not just "jump in". Wish you success whatever you choose to do.0

Feeding people that were sedentary probably did not cause muscle gain. It would probably been fat.
Body comp would be worse.
That was always the standard issue logic I hear saying not to do crash diets or fad diets.
Steady calories deficit, nutrition, exercise. Burn the fat off as our bodies are designed to burn off stored fuel.
Logical and boring predictable success.

You cant lose because either you arent at a consistent deficit or you arent being patient so really this nothing works is complete rubbish. Take responsibility and learn how weight loss works, then do it properly.0 -

How long have you been your current weight? Do you weigh your solids and measure your liquids? If you are truly eating 1400 calories and do not have a medical condition, with 61 pounds to lose, the weight should be coming off even without exercise.
If you are weighing your food and it has been more than a few weeks with no change in weight, check your scale. If your scale is fine, see a medical professional.0 -
Pills don't work. Starving yourself makes you lose muscle along with fat, so I'd also say that doesn't work.
What works 100% of the time is logging your calories effectively and making sure you are eating less than you burn. That's it.
If you are able to exercise and help build a larger deficit that way, all the better.
This is pretty much all you need to know about weight loss. For anyone committed to making sure that they really, truly know how much they're eating, it will work, without pills and while properly nourishing yourself. Go to the doctor to rule out any conditions that might need to be controlled to be able to get the most out of your weight loss efforts. If you don't have any conditions, then you know what you need to do.
