I designed this habit calendar and used it to lose 22 lbs!

But then I moved country, lost the calendar in transit and over the last 1-2 years have gained the weight again. Sigh! So I'm going to get it printed again this week and thought "this might be helpful for other people too!".

Everyday you mark on the poster whether you stuck to your goal or not (eg. Sticking to a food plan or going to the gym). It's a great visual reminder each day of your progress and encourages you to stick to your objective.
So I'm going to get a handful of these printed this week, let me know if you want one!
Thanks
Steven

Hey Steven, good idea. If it's right in front of your eyes its really good motivation. I've been travelling for two months and managed to gain 14lbs so I'm back on the diet fitness road again. Good luck.0

Is this not the same as filling out you myfitnesspal diary daily ?0

That's just an actual calendar... In what way is it a 'habit' calendar?0

Cool
If it's what gets you through
It's like a sticker chart ...anyone who has ever had a toddler will get me0 -
I like it. Put in on the fridge, mark your progress each day, and it's right there to see. Motivating.0

I don't think that would help me, but I definitely get how it could be helpful to others. Good idea.0

Hi canoepug! It's the same principle, yes.
My personal experience is that I'll start using the mfp diary (or similar apps to build habits) but end up forgetting to log in to them or avoid them if I miss a day. The reason this made a difference for me was that I hung it right above my desk so I was facing it every time I sat down to work - so I couldn't ignore it or forget it.
I designed it so that it was really simple - so it takes a 2 second glance to see progress and a quick dab of a pen to fill in for the day (I used a bingo pen ). I guess I'm naturally quite lazy, so the less work there is for me to do the more chance there is of me doing it!0 -
I do think it's really well designed by the way ...:)0

It looks like a regular calendar?
In the past, I have made marks or put stickers on a calendar on days I exercised. It was nice to see it fill in.

Hey TT. Haha, sorry for the confusion!
The reason that it's a habit calendar is that it's designed specifically for creating habits - you can't fill it with notes or write in "TavstockToad's Birthday! Get a Gift!".
I used it to help me stick to my eating plan. So in the fields at the top I wrote 'Stuck to Eating Plan' with a green dot, and 'Didn't Stick to Eating Plan' with a red dot. Every day I stuck to it I marked green, when I didn't I marked the day red - so you can see at a glance exactly how well you've been doing. It reminds you and encourages you to stick to your plan (especially if you're on a good streak!).
Also, although I used it for weight-loss I didn't call it a Weight Loss calendar because it can be used for a number of things like going to the gym, setting a sleeping routine, sticking to a budget - anything really.
Does that make more sense?0 -

Thanks That's partly the reason I created it. I'm a graphic designer and the odd thing I found that could be used for this task looked hideous and not something I'd like to have hanging on my wall for a year - so I designed this. Something minimal and quick to use/read.
Also I forgot to mention it's a double sided poster, so once the years out you can flip it over and hang this on your wall: http://i.imgur.com/gzPBQGE.jpg0 -

Yeah that's fair enough, it might not be for everyone. It helped me in the past so I thought it might be helpful for others, so I thought I'd ask around as I can get a few extra's printed!0 -

So dude ...straight out question
You looking to sell this? You'd need to package it up with the stickers you know
And if you're looking to sell it here...you're going to get disappeared ..cos they don't hold with marketing to MFP members on the forums
Just as a friendly warning0 -

Thanks for the warning! I can see my original post has been flagged a few times, I hadn't realised this was frowned upon here. Although I do understand it's a natural instinct to think 'that guys selling something! IT'S A SCAAAM!' I do it myself.
I was genuinely looking to see if this would interest or be beneficial to anyone like it was for me. I'm not really sure how much it would cost to get them printed, packaged and sent to ~5 people - but I'm guessing I'd make a substantial $10-$20 profit or something, so it's not about making money.
I used a pen to fill it in before, but that's a good idea with the stickers.0 -
