ELLIPTICAL Machine

I own a Nordictrack ACT while working on resistance level 14 for 37 minutes the Nordictrack says I burned 697 calories this is based on 150 pounds. I noticed that the Fitbit does not get every step I take on the elliptical. However the fit bit says I only Burned 164 calories. I do have the heartrate on at all times. I am wondering which is correct? Is a heart rate a better track of a calorie burn?

    697 calories in 37 minutes?
Not unless you are a Tour de France winner!

FitBit. I could burn 600 calories in an hour back when I weighed closer to 200 lbs, but there's no way you're burning 697 calories in 37 mins at 150 lbs.

Trust your Fitbit. Your Fitbit burn is TDEE, the number of calories to maintain your current weight. When you connect your accounts, MFP adjusts your calorie goal to TDEE minus deficit.

Some HRM will feed into the machine

So if you get one it may do that.

The machines at my gym will feed from my Polaris HRM.

I doubt the high burn number myself. You could get a HRM and do a day with and without. It would be an interesting experiment.

I think you should rely more on your heart rate monitor. Cardio machines are notorious for exaggerating the calories burned.

yeah I think something is off, I burn on the elliptical about 215 calories in 40 minutes and I weigh 165.

How fast are you going, it's hard to compare to others, in an hour of cardio, (levels controlled by my HRM) I burned 690 calories heart rate was 80% to 90%. If you want to get every step, it's better to use a pedometer that goes on your side. Polar HRM display and control the levels of most cardio equipment.
