Good luck - check out the monthly challenge forum as you'll find a bunch of us over there (and we can help hold you accountable for your plan).

I'm in week 3 of my training program. This will be my first marathon. Good luck!0

I'm in training as well, just started week 4 of my program. Ditto on the recommendations for the Monthly Running Challenges threads here, as well as the Long Distance Runners group.0

Baltimore is a great course. The city really gears up for the event. Challenging too with the two big uphill runs from the harbor.0

<---My profile pic is from my marathon. I ran one in 2012 (Marine Corps Marathon) and loved it. I hope to run more once I (a) finish having babies and (b) can find enough time in a year to train. It's like having a part time job. haha!
I've run the Baltimore Half twice and the organized 20-miler training run with the local running store which touches on most of the full marathon course. Train for hills and heat train (I don't think you have a choice but it's worth saying). That's my advice.0 -
I wish you good luck in your training and I am super jealous. I have ran several marathons and a few 50ks but due to a recent back surgery have been only able to walk these days. I am hoping one day to get back to it because I do miss it so much.0

Thanks all! This will be marathon number 7. I'm from Pittsburgh, so I have no choice but to do hills. Need to cut six minutes off my PR to qualify for Boston, although my real Boston target race is London next April.0

Just thought I'd chime in because I am aiming to cut 7.5 minutes off my PR to qualify for Boston. And coincidentally, I am also from Pittsburgh (although I live in Cincinnati right now). Be careful running in Baltimore...those Raven's fans might trip you! (Kidding, of course...)

London or Berlin would make for a way better BQ race than Baltimore. Most people who try to BQ in Baltimore turn out very disappointed.
Good luck with your training!! I will probably run the 5k this time. No time to train for anything over 10 miles these days.0 -

I completed the Liverpool Marathon yesterday, my first ever one! It was brilliant, especially in my home City. However I had my Apple Watch and my runkeeper app tracking me, and the difference in calories burned was huge! According to my apple watch I burned 2300 with 348 resting calories, so I'm guessing 2648. However the runkeeper measured close to 3500 calories, so nearly 1000 calories seperate! I've stuck with the apple watch calculations as I believe you burn 100 calories for every mile?
Anyways I really enjoyed it, look forward to hearing about everyone's else's successes.0 -
I'm going to do my first marathon at the end of July (SF Marathon).
I was also training for last year's SF Marathon, but (a) I got shin splints 5 weeks before the event, and (b) my wife gave birth to my 1st child two weeks before the event.
My goal this year: Finish without injury.0 -
I just completed my first on saturday. Rock and Roll Seattle. it was a most awesome expierence and i loved every minute of it, even the hard ones. you still cant wipe the smile from my face!0
