Really want a fitness watch (FitBit Surge or Apple Watch)... but I don't have a smartphone

... and I really don't want to *get* a smartphone, either. I just want something to more closely track my steps, heart rate, distance, calories burned, etc.

Do I need a smartphone in order to make a fitness watch work? Or can it just work with my home computer? I'm guessing yes, but I wanted to make sure.

I have the FitBit Charge HR and I do not have a smart phone. I just sync it at home with my laptop.

Apple watch needs an iPhone. I don't think Fitbit Surge needs one, but I've never had one.

Fitbits can sync (via a dongle) with a computer.

You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

I have a Surge and no smartphone - just syncs with my pc. I don't feel the need to go get one - works fine :)
