So, I'm back to Body Pump tonight, something like 7 years after I last did it - I'm scared! What can I expect as a relative beginner? Am I gonna die? :-S Eep.

If you did it before, you can do it again. Just know that you are starting from scratch and give yourself time to get back to where you were before. Push yourself enough that you are sore, but not actually hurting. Be realistic with your starting weights and just get into that mindset where you are getting back your mojo.0

No not at all. Especially because you've done it before, so you already know what it's going to be like. You'll be fine. Its not bad at all.0

True story: I once went back to body pump after several months off and went straight back in with weights only slightly less than what I had been doing before. During the class I felt ok and was quite pleased with myself for keeping up. Next day, not so pleased with myself - my thighs were still sore a WEEK later. Lesson learned. Just don't do what I did and you'll be fine

You will be fine. For my first class I used my warm up weight for the entire class (I didn't add heavier weights when instructed). I actually did this my first few classes and then started adding weight very slowly. You are going to feel so good when the class is over. I'm excited for you!0

Just done my first session today, was pretty awesome even though I was slightly out of sync with rest of class for most of the time, time to do some 'step in time' routines at home me thinks to get ready for next week0

Thanks everyone - just needed some reassurance! What sort of weight should I go for?0

I have just started going to body pump again too after many years away. Got to say I really love it0

I would start relatively light on warm up weight and see how it feels. Just remember you will more than likely be sore, so start slow. no reason to injure anything. HAVE FUN!!!0

You'll be fine- just modify as you need and don't go crazy- err on the side of caution. Learning before adding significant resistance will serve you in the long term.0
