Hi Everyone,

I'm having a difficult time with measuring my cereal. I use 1/2 cup which on the nutrition label = 30 G. When measuring I do 4oz on the scale...once I hit grams it gives me grams of 112G.

What should I be doing?

    An ounce is about 28 1/3 grams, so 4 x 28.3 = 113.2. Your scale is right.

30 grams is just a little more than one ounce.

Thanks but why does the cereal box say serving size 1/2 cup (30G) for 210 CALS?? When 30 G does not equal 4 OZ

You're confusing FLUID ounces (8 fluid ounces = 1 cup; 4 fluid ounces = 1/2 cup) vs. WEIGHT ounces.

Fluid ounces are a measure of volume; weight ounces are a measure of weight.

I agree it can be confusing.

Half cup (4oz) is a liquid weight. Dry items such as cereal weigh MUCH less.

Weigh it. Weighing and logging according to weight is always more accurate than measuring.
