Heart rate question...

I've always been pretty fit- even at my heaviest. However, I've noticed over the last couple of months that my resting heartrate of around 60 has dropped to around 48.
Given I'm a runner but not an Olympic athlete (!) should I be worried? What about you other fitness fans out there?

Don't be worried at all. This is a good sign that you are making progress. I'm no Olympic athlete either, just did spinning twice a week, and my heart rate is in the low 40s.0

If you're not symptomatic, then I wouldn't worry. But if you develop shortness of breath, easily fatigued, chest pain, light-headedness...then seek medical help.0

unless your feeling dizzy or find yourself gasping for breath when you're not exerting your self don't be worried at all, athletes can have heart rates as low as 30bpm

Mine was always around 60, even when I was very fit as a teenager, but since I started running, getting on for a year ago, it is now 44 resting.0

Ditto what everyone else said. When I was unfit, my morning resting heart rate was over 60 bpm. Now that I've gotten in better shape, I've actually logged my morning resting heart rate as low as 44. It means that you have a healthier heart than before. You heart can now pump more blood per beat than before so it doesn't have to work as hard.0

Mine is 84! I don't really understand heart rates. I'll look it up a bit more.0
