I was suffering an eating disorder almost a year ago .. Dropped to my lowest weight ever...and now only a year on and I have gained 20 kilos.... Trying so hard to keep a positive mind ... Is it possible to lose it again without extreme dieting? I'm terrified!

Hello, I am wondering the same thing! Well, I was anorexic in my teens and now not but trying to lose it sustainably and healthily. I would say seek advice, but feel free to add me as a friend for motivation and sharing tips if you would like :)

The wisest course of action is to discuss this with your treatment team. A year after your lowest weight from unhealthy behaviors is relatively recent.

    Ditto on this.

Yes, of course you can. Just revisit your treatment team and keep them on board. :)

Hey I'm in the same situation! Recovering and gained almost 40 lbs from this time last summer. I'm afraid I don't really have any good advice, though :/

I agree that you need to talk to your treatment team. There is a chance that some, or most, of that weight is healthy. Your lowest weight will have likely have been too low, so gaining weight is a good thing, and should have been part of your recovery.

If you are concerned that you have excess weight that you need to lose, discuss a plan with your treatment team, so that you can lose the weight in a healthy way and be monitored, and get help for, any relapsing behaviour.

Same situation. What I have done is made a list of "warning signs" that I am slipping back into ED. I shared these with my wife, and told her to point out if I start going down that path. I also review them myself. It is hard, but I am doing ok - have good days and bad days.

Perhaps it would be good to speak to licensed specialist? Set the plan and schedule of what, how much and when you'll be eating? So that you know that you eat what you need and lose weight as well? This might be a good start. You can plan ahead what is good, acceptable and healthy?

    Consult a dietician.

Would a recomp plan be more sustainable, or can exercise just become another obsession?

exercising can also become a unhealthy obsession with people with ED

I would talk to your treatment or find a support group. those of us who haven't had this issue only have limited understanding

food is just food. nothing more. and your body needs it to be healthy. and you will be ok.
