Healthier lifestyle for new dad

Hello,
so I recently had my first child and it has made me realize in just how bad a shape I am in. It made me decide to make a genuine effort to get in shape. I've been living in Madagascar for the past 4 years and working on a mining project. This meant that outside of work, not much was happening other than going out for drinks 3-4 times per week, which obviously didn't help the waiste line...haha. With a little nudge from my wife, I have now registered with a gym for a whopping $30 per month and am going there 3 times per week. MyFitnessPal has been very helpful so far in tracking my caloric intake and helped to make me realize that most of my excess weight has been caused by simple over-eating. I've never really tracked my calories before, and I had no idea how little food it takes to consume 2000+ calories in a day. So with the help of the site and the Android app I can now keep an eye on how much I eat in a day to make sure I have a deficit every day so that I can actually start losing some weight.
Anyway, that's my story so far.

Each day is a new day. I didn't realize how much I was eating until I actually measured my food with a food scale. It's amazing! Congrats on the new baby! Good Luck.0
