so I'm quite tall, 5'11, and have been extremely active the last few months. Basketball training for 3 hours every week, running 3-5km per day, and weight training twice a week. However I've gained 6lbs, and it doesn't look the slightest bit flattering! I watch what I eat, and make sure to eat for the activity I'm doing. Not sure where I'm going wrong with this - any tips?

Are you counting your calories? Are you aiming to lose or maintain at the moment?

Eating too much (specifically - too many calories)

"Watching what you eat" isn't going to be specific enough for weight management.

    You can't out-exercise a bad "diet". You're eating more than you're burning.

I've never understood what it means to "watch what you eat." I can subconsciously be thinking about what I'm eating, but unless I keep track of the calories accurately, it really is only a wild guess. Many people who are very active think they can eat more than they really can.

I pity to think of someone who isn't watching what they eat. I imagine they end up looking something like this:

I count my cals, and my diet is healthy. Breakfast is usually a kale and fruit smoothie or protein pancakes. Lunch is an omelette with veg. Evening time meals range from beans, soup or salad. I've never been heavy, always able to maintain a steady weight.

If you're gaining weight, you're eating more calories than you're burning. It is almost always as simple as that. Tighten up your food logging and be sure you aren't over-inflating your exercise calories. Most of us don't burn nearly as many calories as we think we do and @strong_curves is right, you can't out-exercise a bad diet.
