Calorie burn on my walking...?

I'm usually pretty sedentary. According to my iPhone I walk around 3.5 miles a day (while holding it, so not including around the house and stuff.) But today I walked a little more (parking farther away and such.) and it said 6 miles walked in total. I have my daily calorie needs set to sedentary, should I change it to lightly active or add in daily miles(which would be 2.5 above my average.) to calories burned...? I'm only trying to maintain, and LOVE to eat, so this is an important factor.

I only count purposeful exercise. Anytime I walk outside for just exercise or the dogs. I am listed as sedentary and I workout at least 6 times a week, and walk the dogs 3-6 miles a day.0

@carliekitty - That's an interesting formula. It works out to about 1/3 less than what my HRM and other calculators indicate when I'm out for a walk. I've figured out where I need to be for my CICO balance, so I'm not terribly bothered by the exact numbers, but I am curious about how/where you got your figures.

Thanks for that link. The Total Calories Burned per Mile is very close to the figures my HRM and GPS show, and the number quoted earlier is closer to the Net Calories Burned per Mile. Makes sense now.
