NSV - The Bikini

So I'm gonna start by saying that I totally fell off the wagon more than a few months ago but thank heaven I didn't regain ALL of the weight back.

Anywho. Being that it's getting warm out it was time to go swim suit shopping. But apparently bathing suit designers didn't get the memo that obesity is an epidemic in this country. Literally 90% of the suits were bikinis and the other 10% were ugly as sin and completely unflattering. Nothing like bathing suit shopping to remind you about that last 20 or so pounds you have to lose am I right?

So I grudgingly tried on a few bikini's. Sent some pictures to my best friend and asked her if I looked to fat to wear one knowing that she'd be completely honest.

She says to me "You look a little chubby but not bad enough to want to claw my eyes out."

Huzzah!

Nobody else I ask will give me an honest answer when I ask them. They all say "Oh yea, looks great" all while making the blatant lying face.

Well good for you for trying them on! Just keep at it and you'll feel confident in one in no time! :)

Off topic, but what does NSV stand for? I keep seeing it everywhere. Help a noobie out. :p

That would be Non Scale victory. Basically any success you have that isn't exactly a pound loss.

I love those kind of friends. It hurts when they say it but it really puts you on the right track.

If it weren't for her I'd be losing my mind right now.

    My boyfriend says
"You can't wear that it shows too much." Which I can only translate as boyfriend speak for "It looks horrible but I don't want to tell you that because I don't want to get kicked in the nads."

And then of course everybody else says it looks great but are terrible at lying.

It's nice to have a friend that I can trust to tell me the truth even if it's not always nice.
  • not all one pieces are terrible. i looooove the vintage-inspired ones! they offer coverage while looking cute and vintage :D you should check out pinupgirlclothing.com or getgoretro.com, ive actually ordered a bikini bottom from getgo :) hope that helps :)

The one pice suits with the sweetheart neckline and roughing are super flattering (definitely a retro style suit) and were out all last season and seem to be again this season. To keep if youthful and not gradmaish go for bright colors :) I have one from last year in red and I feel so sexy in it, though I wore it recently and it's definitely way too big in the chest now :(
