recently joined a new gym & have tried out the sauna & steam room, however not too sure what to make of them, whats your personal preference (if any) & are they any good for skin? Body?

They make you sweat & therefor dehydrate you. Make sure you drink plenty of water if you plan on going into them.

Not sure about whether they are good for your skin though.

I like both but mainly just for relaxation, not for any health benefits. Just mental health I guess :)

If you like getting hot & sweaty in semi-public, yes.
Be sure to have a towel & shower shoes to protect your skin - viri & fungi love the warm & moist environment.

I don't like them, they make me flush more than is good for my skin. Also I feel like I'm suffocating. Prefer dry sauna to wet if I'm going to do it at all

When I used them regularly, people would stop me in the street and tell me how gorgeous my complexion was. I haven't gotten a compliment like that in ages, about a month after I stopped being a member at the gym where I had access to a sauna. :( I loved them, but I have super dry skin, and the oils in my skin are basically solid and the heat + sweat stopped all the clogged pore issues I have.

I have heard that the sweating itself actually burns some calories, but I've never really counted on it to loose weight.
