To start off with, hello. My name is Megan. No I don't want to buy anything I just need advice and motivation. I lost myself physically and emotionally a long time ago. I just want to be happy with myself. I have a wonderful like but I feel like I am a skinny girl trapped in a big girls body! It's just crazy. In the past 10 years I have gained over 135 lbs. most of that being in the past year and a half. I got comfortable with life and always find excuses no to exercise and eat good. I have two step kids that are like my own. I raise them since their mother is in and out of prison because she is a meth head. I want children of my own but I have had two miscarriages and the doctor says my weight can be a big factor that. What doesn't help is I am a stay at home mother who watches babies, works from home and etc. I do activities with my kids such as coach softball and cheerleading and PTA and church activities and etc but for the life of me I am just so unhealthy and can't keep up. I am so tired and don't feel good a lot and I have a feeling it's my weight. Everyone always says I am beautiful and I know my husband adores me but I want this for me. I need motivation and I need help. Does anyone who has been through a major weight loss that I want to do have any suggestions or stories they can share? Help me find my way to finding the new me!

Hi Megan! Just want to send some words of encouragement your way. You are obviously very loved by your family, and I know how hard it can be when you don't feel that same love toward yourself. Keep your chin up and stick with it! Good luck in the first few weeks.

Make some freinds here. I think it helps to see others successes and struggles. I did fitness pal about three years ago and lost 50 lbs before I went off it. Feels good to be involved. Sharing some of the same things. Good luck and feel free to add me if you like.

How long did it take you to lose that weight?

Hello Megan and welcome to MFP! :)
I know that feeling when life has just happened, and one day you see a number on the scale that you never intended to see. The first step to change is deciding to do something, and signing up on this site so you're well on the way. The rest is up to you! For inspiration and motivation just look around the "Success stories" part of the forums, and hear other people's stories. Add some friends (feel free to add me!) that can motivate and support you. Then, get started!

Start out small, by logging everything you eat. EVERYTHING. As accurate as you can. I started out just guessing, logging "one average banana" or just adding 200 grams of something because that seemed accurate. It may seem tedious at first to weigh and measure everything, but it's something you'll get used to very quickly. Logging what you usually consume in a day may come as a surprise. Weighing out something you thought was one serving may come as a surprise as well, you could be eating twice as much as you think. But start out with just logging everything, then start to look at the calories. Where can you make cuts and changes? Usually it doesn't take much. No more sodas, less cookies/candies/chips/chocolate/other c-words ;P Follow the goals that MFP suggest for you, as a start. Take one day at a time and make sure to stay within your limits and the weight will start coming off.

For exercise, it can be tough to take time for a workout when you have a busy life at home. There are a lot of training programs that you can make at home from your own living room (check out youtube!) - however, this requires you to be able to have ~30 minutes of uninterrupted time for yourself in the living room. Just upping your everyday activity will also help. Taking a walk instead of driving somewhere, or maybe parking further away, taking the stairs, just small steps. With a calorie deficit (eating within the calorie goals MFP gives you) it should be enough to get you started. I lost about 40 lbs by eating what I wanted as long as I stayed within my limits, and walking. It's completely doable!

With a busy life as the "bad guy" organization and planning is key. Find some delicious and healthy recipes, and cook big batches for the entire week. Having a nutritious home-cooked meal in a box in the fridge will make it easy to do a healthy choice instead of doing take-out or something. It's all about choices! Pre-logging your meals in your food diary is also a good idea. That way you won't go over with breakfast and lunch, and stand there realizing you barely have any calories left for dinner. That way you know if you have a bit of extra room for a snack on the go or not. By taking a couple of minutes every night to plan out the next day, you don't have to think about it when you're out there just living your life - just doing so with healthy choices!

Whoa... This got a bit long, but I hope it's helpful! Good luck!!

My Name is Meggin too! Welcome! You are in the right place for motivation and support!
I started out on here about 2 and 1/2 years ago and am down over 80 pounds so far. Slow and steady wins the race, but I know exactly how you feel about finding yourself. This process is amazing if you let yourself be "rescued" by it;)
Id love to stay connected for motivation and support with goals going into the Summer and Fall!
